Welcome back for term 2

Dear students and families,

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break.  It's been great hearing about some of the activities our students participated in over the holidays.  As usual, we've hit the ground running here at school this week.  After spending considerable time on Student Support Group meetings and the design of Individual Education Plans in term 1, now is the time of year when students can start to work towards achieving their educational goals for the year.  Its an 11 week term with three student-free days: April 25 for ANZAC Day, May 20 for our Curriculum Day, and finally June 10 for the King's Birthday holiday.  In term 2 we are also looking forward to our Careers Night on May 22, and the second annual Brave Week in week 9.

Building works update

The major building project is moving swiftly and smoothly.  Over the holidays the remaining demolition was completed.  This involved removing the playground in the Lower Junior courtyard.  The area is now undergoing earthworks to prepare for the laying of the foundation for the new building.

Our Lower Junior students have moved into a temporary playground space.  This inconvenience will be for the remainder of the year until our new modern and amazing playground is completed.

Staffing news

I'm very pleased to announce that our new speech pathologist started at Naranga this week.  Please welcome Sigrid to our therapy team.

The school is currently recruiting for additional staff in a number of areas.  With the current workforce shortages, it is taking considerably longer to find suitable staff.  Thank you for your patience while we continue our recruitment efforts.

Cold weather uniforms

With the arrival of the cold  and wet weather, I've noticed many students in non-uniform tops and jackets.  There are some great cold weather options with our uniform provider that I'd encourage you to purchase.  The soft shell spray jacket is a great choice.  I wear one myself everyday.  If students are not wearing an official uniform option, please ensure that it is navy blue and free from any logos, graphics or pictures.

School Council vacancy

I am still looking for one more volunteer for our Naranga School Council.  Please get in touch if you are interested.

Looking forward to a positive and productive term 2.
