Dear parents and carers,

It has been wonderful visiting classrooms and seeing our students put the finishing touches to their first-semester learning reflections. They are proud of their achievements so far and are excited to showcase their learning with families and teachers at our upcoming student-led conferences this Monday.

As a reminder, Monday is a curriculum day, so regular classes will not run. If you require supervision for your child, care is available for the full day through our Out of School Hours Care provider, TheirCare.

Aspendale PS Records Day

On Tuesday, we held our bi-annual Aspendale Primary School Records Day. Across the day students showed perseverance and resilience to strive for their personal best across a variety of records, including stacking 50c coins and seeing how many times they could write their name in one minute. 

Classes refined their team-building skills, using kindness, encouragement and communication, to work together to challenge our school records in activities such as the hula-hoop pass, keepie uppy and speed roll call. 

We finished the day with a whole school over-under challenge on our oval. Well done to our students who shaved 17 minutes off the 2024 single ball record and 28 minutes off the multiple balls record.

Thanks to our Ebony Meier and her team for their organisation of the day, our staff for facilitating the activities and our students for stepping forward and participating.

Online Sister-School Lesson

Yesterday a group of our Year Six students participated in an online lesson with students from our Sister School, Xurijingcheng Primary School in Nanjing. The students practised English and Chinese Mandarin together whilst they shared the similarities and differences between their lives and learnt more about the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an.

Students from our Sister School taught us about the city of Xi’an and the history of the Terracotta Warriors. Both groups then devised questions our students travelling on our Study Tour to China in September can answer when they visit Xi’an.

Our students concluded the session by practising their Chinese Mandarin to thank the staff and students at Xurijingcheng Primary School.

Thank you to Hong Ma for her organisation and facilitation of this wonderful and unique learning experience for students at both schools.

Planning Week

Our teaching staff have spent a day this week reflecting on our teaching and learning programs across Semester One and planning ahead for Term Three. Thanks to everyone involved for their work across planning week and well done to our students for continuing to follow their learning routines.

Ramps Update

Two of our ramps are now completed and we look forward to progress on the other ramps under construction. Thanks to everyone for continuing to be safe and considerate of others with the temporary disruption across our school.

Many of our students have jumped on board the fun of the 2026 Men’s Football World Cup. It’s been great seeing the passion for the Socceroos and the way our students are embracing the different cultures, styles and fans of each country participating. Enjoy the fun if you’re getting up early on Saturday morning.
