Principal's Report

Welcome Back Academy

This week, our Academy program begins with our Year 10 students commencing Year 11 along with the return of our Year 12 students for their HSC year. It is wonderful to see all of our Academy students back in our classrooms. All the best for a smooth start everyone!

Year 10 Reports Sent Home

As our students in Year 10 have finished their studies, end of semester reports were sent home last week.  If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child's report, please contact their teacher at the school.

Congratulations Jackson

We congratulate Jackson Davison on his selection to participate in the 2026 German Football Tour in 2026. Jackson has been selected to join a team of players, travelling to Germany in June and July next year. He will have the opportunity to train at Germany's world class sports schools, compete in high level matches and work with top international coaches.

Jackson and his family will be holding various fundraising activities between now and when he departs to assist in funding his trip.  Our school will also play a part in these fundraising activities as well. Congratulations Jackson on being selected to be a part of such an amazing experience.

New Woodwork/Metalwork Room

You may have noticed a new building sitting near the library and woodwork rooms... this is our new woodwork/metalwork room for our students to use.  The room is fully equipped with modern machinery and tools so we can effectively provide wonderful programs for our secondary students.  The rooms are not fully functional yet, but they will be ready to go for the start of next year.

Future Teachers Club Sydney Excursion

Our school is partnering with Armidale Secondary College and Guyra Central School in developing a Future Teachers Club (FTC) for interested senior students.  There are over 30 schools across NSW high and central schools, giving students who are interested a chance to begin learning skills and techniques in becoming a school teacher during the last years of high school. Annie Hunt, Chloe Atkins, Tahlia Cox and Millie Hunt will travel with Mrs Tobler to Sydney next week, along with students and staff from Armidale and Guyra to attend the 2025 FTC Conference at Macquarie University.  I trust they will all enjoy learning about the program and bring back some ideas to start building our own program here in Uralla.

Presentation Day - Thursday 4 December

Just a reminder that our 2025 Presentation Day is in two weeks time, on Thursday 4 December from 11.30am. This is a celebration of learning for students and staff for 2025, where we present major awards from sponsors and school funded initiatives.  After the assembly, we invite everyone to remain in the COLA area for a BBQ lunch.

Primary School Leaders for 2026

Our Year 5 students were all provided the opportunity to present a short speech yesterday before students voted for 2026 Primary School Leaders. I congratulate every student who showed the courage to stand up and present to the K-6 students and staff. We will announce our new school leaders at Presentation Day.

Thank you Moons Bakery

I would like to thank Moons Bakery, Uralla for their kind donation of the Year 12 Formal cake.  Amy Hilton (who owns Moon's Bakery) kindly offered to donate the cake she made for our students.  This is such a kind gesture.  Please make sure you call into the bakery and thank Amy (and buy a pie or some bread while you are there).  Thanks again to Moon's Bakery!

Change of School Starting Time for Secondary 2026

Next year, all year groups in secondary will start the day with a roll call from 8.50am.  This is 10 minutes earlier than we usually start school. All year groups will have a dedicated Year Advisor for students to work with each morning. The Year Advisor will be a contact for students to answer questions about upcoming events and to seek support where needed.  Our Year Advisors will also be a contact point for parents and families, wishing to discuss aspect of their child's learning at school. The change is part of a plan to ensure all students have a teacher to contact and support them throughout the secondary years.

Our school will join with other schools in performing Christmas Carols as part of the Uralla Christmas Fair on Friday evening.  We will be performing from 6.30pm next to the tree in Bridge Street. We have a group of students who have been preparing for the event. Thanks to Miss Matsui for preparing our students.

Have a great fortnight,
