Recently, two teams of "ethletes" represented us in the Victorian and Tasmanian Ethics Olympiad, a competition that fosters respectful, creative, and rigorous ethical discussions among students across school communities.
Teams compete by tackling complex ethical dilemmas, demonstrating thoughtful analysis, reasoning, logic, and effective communication to impress the judges. Each heat is conducted and assessed by university-based academics and ethicists from around the world.
Our teams consisting of Garry Dhinni, Paddy Casey, Joseph Buckle, Jackson Turner, Ashton Caruana and Brody Gregg performed very well, competing against a diverse range of Melbourne and Tasmanian schools throughout the day. While we didn’t place, one of our teams received an honourable mention. We eagerly anticipate seeing how our Years 7-9 teams will fare in Term 4.

On Friday 22 May, four talented Food Technology and Hospitality students proudly represented the College at the ACC Culinary Competition held at Parade College. Competing against eight other schools, students were challenged to prepare and present both a main course and dessert within a demanding 90-minute timeframe.
The competition showcased some truly fierce, MasterChef-worthy talent, with teams judged by professional chefs on their technical skills, teamwork, presentation, flavour, and use of seasonal ingredients.
We are thrilled to congratulate our team — Will Steenhuis, Aidan Ellul, Jonty Lee and Nathan Sandles — who delivered an outstanding performance and were awarded a Gold Medal, achieving the highest scores of the day.
Their impressive main course featured eye fillet with red wine jus, silky pea purée, parsnip purée and Macedon beetroot, beautifully highlighting seasonal vegetables. For dessert, the team created a fluffy chocolate sponge topped with raspberry mousse and an elegant white chocolate dome, accompanied by almond crumb and raspberry coulis.
The students demonstrated exceptional creativity, composure, organisation and teamwork throughout the competition. Their professionalism and culinary skill were highly praised by the judging panel and reflected the dedication they have shown within the Food Technology and Hospitality program.
Congratulations to the team on this fantastic achievement and for representing the college with pride and excellence.

On Friday 15 May, our Year 12 Economics students joined a live stream of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) Student Economic Talk, presented by Assistant Governor (Economic), Sarah Hunter.
Delivered in partnership with Haileybury and the Victorian Commercial Teachers Association (VCTA), the session provided valuable insights into current economic conditions, policy considerations, and the factors shaping Australia’s economic outlook.
The talk offered students a rare opportunity to hear directly from a leading voice at the RBA, strengthening their understanding of key economic concepts through real-world application and contemporary analysis.
