Principal's Message

AEU PROTECTED INDUSTRIAL ACTION – THANK YOU
Thank you to our families for your understanding and support during the AEU Protected Industrial Stop Work Action held on Thursday 23rd July 2026.
We appreciate the flexibility shown by our community in accommodating the temporary changes to school operations.
While industrial action can be disruptive, it is important to understand that this campaign is about much more than wages. A key focus is securing fair and equitable funding for Victorian public schools to ensure every student, regardless of where they live or the school they attend, has access to the resources, staffing and support they need to thrive.
Our staff remain committed to providing the highest quality education for every student, and we sincerely thank our families for their ongoing partnership, patience and understanding as this matter continues to be negotiated.
We can all agree that these negotiations have taken far too long.
PUPIL FREE DAY – FRIDAY 24TH JULY 2026
A reminder that tomorro Friday 24th July is a scheduled Pupil Free Day at Warrnambool Primary School.
We appreciate that the timing of this day, immediately following the AEU Protected Industrial Stop Work Action, may have been inconvenient for some families. The Pupil Free Day, however, was planned and communicated many months ago, well before the recent industrial action was announced. Unfortunately, the timing of the stop work was outside the school's control.
On Friday, our teaching staff will participate in an important day of professional learning focused on the Framework for Understanding Poverty. This evidence-informed learning will strengthen staff knowledge and understanding of the impact that poverty can have on children's learning, wellbeing and engagement, while building practical strategies to further support all students to achieve success at school.
This professional learning is being attended by staff from many schools across our region and forms part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible educational outcomes and inclusive learning environment for every student.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of our school and staff as we invest in professional learning that directly benefits our students.
YEAR 5 CAMP – SOVEREIGN HILL
Our Year 5 students are looking forward to attending their camp to Sovereign Hill from Monday 3rd August to Wednesday 5th August 2026.
This exciting three-day experience provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in Australia's gold rush history through hands-on activities, interactive learning experiences and visits to many of Sovereign Hill's renowned attractions. Students will explore life in the 1850s, participate in educational programs, and build independence, resilience and teamwork while creating lasting memories with their classmates.
Thank you to our Year 5 staff for the considerable planning and organisation involved in making this camp possible. We also thank our families for their support in preparing students for this valuable learning experience.
We wish all Year 5 students and staff a safe, enjoyable and rewarding camp.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Parent Teacher Interviews will be held from Monday 27th July to Wednesday 29th July 2026.
These interviews provide an important opportunity for parents and carers to meet with their child's teacher to discuss learning progress, celebrate achievements and work together to support each student's continued growth and success.
Families are asked to log into Compass and enter their preferred interview times as soon as possible. Interview times will be allocated based on preferences where possible, and confirmation of your booking will be available through Compass.
We encourage all families to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to strengthen the home-school partnership and discuss your child's learning journey.
If you require assistance with booking an interview through Compass, please contact the school office.
