Principal's Update

We have had a busy and exciting couple of weeks at Kangaroo Flat Primary School, with many wonderful opportunities for our students to learn, grow and represent our school with pride.

Our Grade 6 students recently participated in their Passion and Pathways Immersion Day, which provided a fantastic opportunity to begin thinking about future pathways, explore their interests and develop ideas for their passion projects.

Last Wednesday, our senior students competed in the Division Netball competition. They displayed outstanding teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day. Miss Hendy and Miss Ainslie were incredibly proud of the way our students represented Kangaroo Flat Primary School both on and off the court.

We were also fortunate to welcome Dr Nathaniel Swain back to our school last Thursday. During his visit, he spent time in classrooms working alongside our staff and students and commented on the high-quality learning taking place across the school. His positive feedback is a wonderful reflection of the commitment and dedication of both our staff and students.

A sincere thank you to all of our parents and carers who attended Parent-Teacher Interviews last week. These conversations are an important part of building strong partnerships between home and school and supporting every child's learning and growth. We greatly appreciate your ongoing support and involvement.

Last week we also celebrated a very special milestone with our wonderful Foundation students as they reached 100 Days of School. It was a joy to recognise just how much they have grown in confidence, independence and their learning since starting school earlier this year. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and thank our Foundation staff for creating such a memorable celebration for our students and families.

This week has been an exciting one for our senior students as they headed off to Doxa Camp in Melbourne. On Monday, our Grade 5 students departed and have enjoyed a fantastic few days filled with new experiences, challenges and wonderful memories with their friends. Yesterday, our Grade 6 students began their camp adventure, and I am looking forward to joining them today for the day, including cheering on the Kangaroos at the football—Go Roos! I would like to sincerely thank the staff who have given up their time to attend camp and make these valuable experiences possible for our students.

Tuesday, we recognised National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day with an Acknowledgement of Country and a range of learning activities that helped students understand the significance of this important day and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, culture and community.

Our school choir also represented Kangaroo Flat Primary School beautifully at the choir competition Tuesday. They took the runner up crown, securing second place overall. We are incredibly proud of the way our students continue to represent our school with confidence, enthusiasm and respect. Congratulations to Ms Dellow and all of our choir members on their wonderful performance.

I would like to warmly welcome back Michaela Rutherford from maternity leave. She will be back three days per week.
