GARDEN GROWTH

It is a busy end of the year in our school garden areas. Before our seniors finished, we weeded and watered the kitchen garden well. The early rainfall encouraged good growth on grape bunches. It was lovely to see our first sunflower bloom Bee activity in the garden has helped to pollinate zucchinis and fruit trees. In the Horticulture Garden, corn cobs are forming and developing and tomatoes growing well. We already harvested silver beet, spinach, and beans. We have already started to net our garden beds to protect our vegetables from birds and possums. We will cover our grapes with netting and cover small groups of apples on trees using onion bags.

COSTA’S NEW CHILDREN’S BOOK

Costa Georgiadis the host of ABC Gardening Australia has written the first of a children’s book series called Costa’s Garden. His book is a way for children to connect to nature, look at the environment around them using nature goggles. As a family, you can watch Costa on ABC Gardening Australia Junior or iview.abc.net.au. Thank you for your involvement in our recycling activities over the year. This term, we have kept 125 blister packs and 1. 2 kilograms of used pens and whiteboard markers out of landfill.

Over the year we collected and sorted in colour and size, 8.56 kilograms of plastic lids for the Lids for Kids program.
