That's a wrap!
Dear students and families,
We've reached the end of another successful year of school at Naranga. Phew! Another amazing year full of learning, making friendships, personal growth and fun. I want to thank all of parents, carers, grandparents and kin for creating positive partnerships with school. I know that we can unlock all of our students' potential when home and school are united. Thank you to our staff for all of their efforts in 2024. People outside of the school would not realise the hours and hours of hard work that goes into making school a success for every learner. I am truly appreciative to have such a skilled staff who are all dedicated to the needs of our students.
Goodbye's
At this time of year we will sadly be saying goodbye to some of the Naranga family:
Our careers practitioner Jodie O'Meara is resigning. Jodie has done a fantastic job for us this past year and next year will be enjoying some travel experiences. Enjoy the new pace of life Jodie!
Di Grover has worked at Naranga School as a classroom assistant for 26 years. Di will be taking leave next year and I'm sure will enjoy the extra time with her family and pursuing her hobbies.
Our teaching and learning guru Karen Sephton is taking leave to take on a Disability Inclusion Facilitator role. I have no doubt Karen will be excellent in this role. Her contributions to our teaching and learning practices are immeasurable. Karen's expertise will be greatly missed.
Hello's
We have three new staff joining our school in 2025:
Amber Cook is joining our classroom education support team. Amber has worked with us on a relief basis this year and will be a great addition to the team.
Danielle Moore also joins our ES team. Dana has great experience supporting learners in primary schools and will be a great support to Naranga students.
Ann Martin will be our new music teacher. Ann is an experienced music teacher with both singing and instrumental teaching in her background. Ann is also a music therapist and we welcome her to our specialist teaching team.
Captains and Senior Leaders
School leaders recently interviewed a large group of Pathways students for leadership roles in 2025. I was so impressed with how they communicated their ideas for the school. The following students will be our senior leaders next year:
Captains: Bianca and Michael
Vice-Captains: Emily and Kai
Year 12 Student Representative Councillor: Ryan
Sport Leader: Perry
SWPBS Leader: Tyrel
Sustainability Leader: Nathaniel
Library Leader: Maverick
Well done to all of you for volunteering to be leaders at Naranga School.
Change for me, for now...
In term 1, I will be the Acting Principal at Springvale Park SDS while a recruitment process is underway to replace their retiring principal. It is an opportunity for personal growth and learning for myself, so that I can be a better school leader. In my absence, Assistant Principal Shaun Bacon will be in the Acting Principal role. Although it is late in the year for this upheaval, I'm confident we'll start the year smoothly.
Have a wonderful holiday season, and I'll see you in 2025.
Kai Pukarinen
Principal
