The ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Award
started in 2006 and aims to recognise students who demonstrate leadership and teamwork within both the school and the broader local community. At the same time, they recognise those who display strong values, such as doing one’s best, respect for others and ‘mateship’, that are integral to Australian society.
This year's Year 10 winner is a student whose year has been defined by exceptional leadership, teamwork, and a dedication to both his school and the broader community. His involvement with the Australian Air Force Cadets, where he has taken on leadership roles such as Cadet Corporal and Squadron Liaison Officer for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, showcases his commitment to guiding others and fostering camaraderie. At school, this student embraced his role as Year 10 Captain, supporting
peers, attending leadership conferences, and excelling academically in advanced and VCE subjects. His passion for the performing arts saw him dedicated to school productions and the Australian Youth Theatre, where he earned roles that demanded discipline and collaboration. Beyond school, he secured a job at the Greensborough RSL through his own initiative and participated in work experience placements with PBS Radio and the Military Police, demonstrating resilience, ambition, and a commitment to service. Throughout these experiences, this student exemplified core Australian values such as respect, mateship, and striving to do his best, making him a role model for his peers and a valued leader in every setting.
