Message from the Principal

Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,

The Year 3 camp was a great success last week at Camp Weekaway. A massive thank you to the teachers and staff who accompanied the children and to the parent helpers who gave up their time to come along. It was a very successful overnight camp and the weather was just perfect!

Movie Night - Toy Story 5

We are super excited to be holding our postponed movie night evening this Friday, 16th October. Whilst not super-hot, the weather is looking much better than early in the year. It is going to be a great night, but we really do need parent volunteers to make this run smoothly. Thank you to those who have offered just a small amount of their time. If you are available, then please book into this link:

Tickets are still available from the office and make sure you bring some change for the fun raffle that we hold.

David McKenzie Award

We were pleased to welcome Vicki Ward to Eltham East Primary School on Monday to present the 2026 David McKenzie award to Owen H. Owen is certainly a fitting recipient. It can be a difficult decision for us as we have so many worthy candidates. Here is the citation for the award:

Owen has shown exemplary leadership in the following programs: Stand-up/peer support, Tee-ball and Softball and with the school concert. Through his work in the softball team, he has coached and mentored children who would usually resist participating in sport with an exceptional outcome. He is kind and respectful to his peers, teachers and the broader community. His support through the school concert has also shown his leadership, kindness and respect for his fellow students and school community. Owen is a curious, student who frequently mentors his peers in Numeracy and Literacy in the classroom specifically assisting students who need extra assistance.

Normally this award would be presented later in the year, but the timing was subject to Vicki’s availability.

Communication with the School

We know that the world does change at a rapid rate especially in relation to technological advancements. Whilst generative AI can be a very handy adjunct to human thought and expression it obviously has its limitations. As a school we do value authentic communication, and I would respectfully ask that parents and carers to please avoid using generative AI when emailing staff.

Mini Working Bee - Fairy Garden and Kitchen Garden

We are very pleased with the newly installed toadstool seats and table in the fairy garden. Now we have completed this task we are looking at holding another mini-working bee on Friday 30th October. Please let the office, or Mrs Jackson know if you could lend a hand. We really need some parent input to help complete lots of small jobs.

Coming Up

In addition to movie night, we also have Japanese Studies Day on Friday 16th October. This is always a special day in the EEPS calendar. Parents are very welcome to attend the morning assembly.

Have a great week of “Learning and Growing Together”.

Kind regards

Warren Lloyd

Principal
