Wayne Thiebaud - Single and Double Decker
In the last week of Term 3, the grade 3 and 4 students constructed cupcakes made out of paper cups, newspaper, crepe paper and magiclay. After making the cake (scrunching and covering newspaper), decorating the base (cutting and gluing crepe paper) they used some modelling skills such as rolling and flattening to create icing and whipped cream out of magiclay. There were even some novelty cupcakes such as wolves, pigs, snowmen and snakes , amazing work!

If you happen to swing by the office, you will see some of the delicious donuts and cupcakes in a lovely cake stand:

As part of our food unit, the students also had fun painting ice cream cones inspired by artist Wayne Thiebaud. Thiebaud (pronounced TEE-bo) was a famous American painter best known for his colourful, mouth-watering paintings of everyday sweet treats like cakes, ice cream cones, and pies.
