National Reconciliation Week

RECONCILIATION WEEK - NOW MORE THAN EVER

National Reconciliation Week was established in 1993 as the Week of Prayer for Reconciliation. The designated dates for NRW remain consistent each year, spanning from 27 May to 3 June.

These dates hold significance as they commemorate two pivotal milestones in the journey towards reconciliation: the successful 1967 referendum and the landmark High Court Mabo decision.

Reconciliation is a collective endeavor that encompasses all Australians, encompassing individuals, families, communities, organisations, and most importantly, the nation as a whole. At the core of this journey lies the relationships between the wider Australian community and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Each of us has a vital role to fulfill in the pursuit of reconciliation. By actively participating, we contribute to the development of relationships and communities that deeply respect and value the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their histories, cultures, and future aspirations.
