Dear Parents and Carers,
We have now entered the sacred season of Lent a reflective and prayerful 40-day journey
in which we are invited to draw closer to God our Father and to walk more intentionally with Jesus.

Over the coming weeks, we are called not only to speak about faith with our children, but to model it. Through prayer, small sacrifices, acts of kindness and generosity, we demonstrate what it means to live as people of hope.
Our older students will have the opportunity to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to pray the Stations of the Cross in the parish church. These experiences are powerful moments of reflection and spiritual growth.
As we navigate our new mission , vision, values and credo this term teachers will also help the children make connections between our Lenten promises and our values of respect, compassion, stewardship excellence and service and our credo of high expectations for all. Every week at Friday assembly classes will have the opportunity to share their
learnings.

This week we also commenced our Family and Faith Afternoons centred on the season of Lent. It was wonderful to see so many Kindergarten families join us yesterday. Your presence strengthens the partnership between home and school that is so vital in nurturing faith.
We look forward to welcoming our Year 1 families next Thursday for their Family and Faith session.

Very soon we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week across the state a time to give thanks
for the gift of Catholic education and to celebrate all that is good in our Catholic schools.
In recent years, there has been a strong system focus on enrolments during this week. This year, however, we return to its original spirit of celebration, gratitude and joy. I fondly remember, as a class teacher at St Francis Xavier, planning our Catholic Schools Week Mass with students. It was always a liturgy filled with energy, pride and deep thanksgiving.
This year we will gather for a whole school prayer service on Thursday 4 March at 8:50am to mark this special week.
Following the prayer service, members of the leadership team and I will join families for coffee at Flower Power. The children will receive an ice-pole treat, and a morning tea will be provided for our teachers and support staff as a small gesture of appreciation for their extraordinary dedication.
People often ask me why I am an educator. The answer is simple: I received an excellent Catholic education, and I want the same opportunity for every child who walks through the gates of St Francis Xavier. Catholic education forms minds, shapes hearts and builds character and we are privileged to continue that mission each day.
We look forward to celebrating together.
Our open days are as following and we already have 60 families indicating they would like to attend with a further 59 families have made application for 2027. If there are any sibling families who have still to enrol please complete an application as soon as possible.
Current families are invited to our open day on Friday 6th of March and tour the classrooms after our International Women's Day Assembly.

What a wonderful evening our School Disco was! The children danced with enthusiasm and joy it has certainly become a cherished tradition on our school calendar.
Thank you to the many parents who assisted with set-up, supervision, stalls and pack-up. Many hands truly do make light work. An outstanding $2,558.05 was raised a fantastic result that reflects both generosity and strong community spirit.
These funds can be directed towards an additional picnic bench for the Primary Playground, in which the year 6 children have requested.
A special thank you to the Labruna family for their generous sponsorship and ongoing support of the school. We are very grateful.

Our next Parents & Friends Meeting will be held on:
7:00pm – 8:00pm Monday 2nd March
beforehand at 6:30pm - The Child Protection session for parent volunteers will commence in the hall
At this meeting, I will share information regarding our 2026 Annual Improvement Plan, outlining our strategic priorities and key focus areas as we continue to strengthen learning, wellbeing and faith formation at SFX.
Mr Criniti and Mrs Scullion will also present on their respective areas of responsibility and outline their plans and initiatives for 2026.
Your voice and partnership matter greatly. I encourage you to join us as we continue shaping the future direction of our school together.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Have a great weekend
Brian
