YEAR 5/6 FUN-RAISER

Visit from Anni and Glenys

The Year 5/6 students were blessed to welcome Anni and Glenys to St Mary’s last Friday as they came to collect the funds raised for Mantayupan Elementary School. It was such a beautiful visit — the children were deeply engaged and so proud to share the fruits of their efforts. 

Glenys, who founded the initiative in the mid-1980s after seeing a need within the Filipino community, was especially touched by the students’ generosity. When the total amount was revealed, both Anni and Glenys were overcome with emotion, amazed by the kindness and mighty spirit alive in our students. 

Every cent raised will go directly to supporting the school in Mantayupan. This fun-raiser was deeply meaningful to both women and a wonderful way to bring together our learning about human dignity, compassion, and justice.

Below is a heartwarming message I received from Anni after their visit:

Dear Michelle,

We cannot thank you enough for the amazing spirit you generated at St Mary's for the energy the students committed to 'fun-raising' for Mantayupan.

Please pass on our thanks and admiration to the students and staff for the maturity and spirit that was shown to Glenys and me on Friday.

The Holy Spirit is truly alive and well at St Mary's from what I witnessed and felt.
