At Marist-Sion College we are fortunate to have a fully manned First Aid Room for all our staff and students.

Our objectives and responsibilities include:

  • Providing First Aid assistance for students that become unwell or injured.
  • Supporting students with medical conditions including, but not limited to, asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, epilepsy or other long term medical conditions.
  • Developing and regularly reviewing appropriate Medical Action plans.
  • Facilitating communication between parents and appropriate staff members regarding student medical needs.
  • Assisting in return to school planning following prolonged absences due to serious illness, injury or surgery.
  • Facilitating the safe administration of medication/s on-site and during excursions and overnight events.

Medication Arrangements

If your child/ren requires medication whilst at school the following is our procedure:

  • Medication will not be administered by the First Aid Officer unless the appropriate Medication Administration Forms (Non-Prescription and/or Prescription) is provided to the College.
  • All medication provided must be handed in by the parent/guardian/carer to the First Aid Officer in its original packaging with a visible expiry date.
  • The Medication Administration Non-Prescription (over-the-counter) form must be completed and signed by the parent/guardian/carers.
  • The Medication Administration Prescription form must be completed by the parents/guardian/carers and signed by a General Practitioner or dispensing pharmacist. Prescription medication will not be administered if it is not signed.

If you have questions or would like to discuss how the medical team can support your child, please make contact with the Medical Team on medical@mscw.vic.edu.au
