Mr Irwin's Message

Hello Families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

It was great to have students return last week and settle into a routine of learning. I was impressed with how calm the classrooms were across the school in only the first 3 days of Term 2, and also with how well students participated and behaved at the Cross Country on Thursday afternoon. We were blessed with great weather but even better behaviour to run our event. It was a great way to end the first week of term. Well done to all the students who competed, and a huge thank you to the families who ventured to Don Wallace to watch.

Our Cross Country and Athletics events always have a terrific atmosphere because of the support we get from our families. It’s a great spur to students competing to have a crowd and families supporting them at the start of the race and at the finish line!

Selected students in the 10, 11 and 12-13 year old categories will now represent the school in the Flinders District Cross Country event hosted again at Don Wallace Oval from midday on Friday.

Early Learning Centre

Civil Works have begun on site for the new Early Learning Centre. You can keep up to date on progress on this project here: Early Learning Victoria Teesdale (interim name) | schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au

Parking

I want to thank families for the way they’ve responded to the changes in parking around the school. Pickups last week were smooth and safe which we need without exception every day. By 3:25pm on Sutherland Street there are plenty of spare parks for a quick pickup. So I would encourage families to take advantage of staff supervision and arrive between 3:20pm and 3:30pm on Sutherland Street if they’re having any hassles at pickup time. We will continue to monitor pickup parking over the next few weeks but hope with the same attitude from families this continues to run smoothly.

Yard

Students have responded well to the adjustment in available play space so far and the addition of a much larger sandpit has been a big hit! Like parking we’ll continue to monitor engagement in the yard and make tweaks accordingly.

Upcoming Dates

Don’t forget to check the date to remember page for information about School Photos (This Thursday) and our Mother’s Day stall! A Pupil Free day has been booked for Monday May 26th. Students are not required at school on this day.

Bye for Now,

Sam
