Student Leadership

Our student leaders recently organised a meaningful and vibrant celebration of IDAHOBIT Day across the college, promoting inclusion, respect, and pride within our community.
Students were invited to participate in an out-of-uniform day, wearing rainbow colours to show their support for diversity and inclusion. The day was met with enthusiasm, with many students embracing the opportunity to express themselves and stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. Shown below is a picture of the Bluff Rd student leadership team, wearing each colour of the rainbow along with our Assistant Principals. A special mention goes to Anna Honeyman who designed, produced and wore a rainbow themed shirt on the day.

In the lead-up to the event, our student leaders demonstrated outstanding initiative by designing and displaying posters around the school (shown below) to raise awareness and encourage participation. On the day, they also took responsibility for collecting gold coin donations from students and staff.

We are proud to share that the college raised a total of $138.10, which has been donated to Minus18, an Australian charity that supports LGBTQIA+ youth. Minus18 plays a vital role in creating safe, empowering spaces for young people, providing resources, education, and programs that promote inclusion and wellbeing.
We commend our student leaders for their organisation, leadership, and commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive school environment. Their efforts made this day both impactful and memorable for our entire community.

On Thursday 14th May student leaders from across Year 10-12 attended the inaugural Bayside Youth Summit at Beaumaris Secondary College. Hosted by the Bayside City Council, this summit brought together over 100 leaders from schools across our region to develop their understanding of leadership and collaborate on the issues facing young people in our community.
The summit was led by Youth Leadership Academy Australia, and the students had the opportunity to hear from the Mayor of Bayside City Council, Cr Debbie Taylor-Hanyes, and CEO Matthew Cripps. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students who were able to attend and they represented our college in the best possible manner.

Following the summit, the leaders shared their experience with the wider student leadership team, and we look forward to seeing how the ideas that started at this event will spread into our school and create positive change for our community.
