TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff, and friends! Welcome to Week 9 of Term 2.

We would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respect to their Elders, past, present, and emerging.

Can you believe there are only two weeks left of term? Time is flying, and we’ve had another fantastic week here at TheirCare! This week’s theme is “Understanding our World” and we’ve been exploring it through play, teamwork, and creativity.

Active Start to the Week

We kicked things off with some of our favourite outdoor games - footy, soccer, Gaga ball, and downball were all a big hit as usual. Indoors, the children enjoyed air hockey, chess, Scrabble, and LEGO building, with something fun for everyone.

Block Building Competition

Tuesday was a highlight, with our exciting block building competition. The creativity on display was amazing - from towers to castles to imaginative landscapes. Prizes were awarded for standout designs, and everyone had a great time cheering each other on.

Sharing Our Languages and Cultures

This week, as part of our “Understanding Our World” theme, we’ve been learning about the different languages spoken in our TheirCare community. Children had the chance to share words and phrases from the languages they speak at home - such as how to say hello, goodbye, thank you, and good morning. We talked about which countries these languages come from and what makes each one special. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn something new and appreciate the rich cultural backgrounds we all come from. The children were proud to teach their friends, and it helped create a sense of respect, inclusion, and curiosity about the world.

Pupil of the Week

This week’s Pupil of the Week is Alex in PBD for being brave and strong. She didn’t give up, even when things were tough. Well done, Alex! You should be very proud of yourself.
