Wellbeing Partnerships and Safety

To all the members of our college community, welcome back to Term 4. It’s great to see the sun out after a long cold winter. Over the holiday period, the College has purchased some moveable soccer goals which have been placed on the back oval and it has been pleasing to see many students enjoying their use at lunchtime. Thank you to Mr Senini and Mrs Sarah Saliba for organizing the purchase of the goals.
While we are on the topic of lunchtime activities, the House ‘Gaga’ championships are in full swing. If you are like me and thought the Gaga Championships involved impersonating the 5’11’’ pop icon, you would be wrong. It’s not an easy game to explain, but the students have enjoyed playing it and representing their House in the Championships. Thank you to our SRC, Deacon Mark Kelly, and the Heads of House for organising this activity.
It is always pleasing as an educator to see students enjoying these activities at lunchtimes and on the whole, they are played in great spirit and give our students a positive outlet to burn off that excess energy. At other times, we do need to remind students about safety in the yard. Recently, there has been a need to speak to some students regarding excessive rough housing in the yard. Students who engage in these behaviors will be removed from the yard.
Uniform Term 1 and 4
With the change of seasons also comes the change in the student uniform. Below is a brief description of the Term 1 and term 4 summer uniform requirements which was shared as a reminder to students this week. Can I please encourage parents to assist staff with having conversations with their children about the wearing the appropriate uniform. If there is any queries or concerns regarding the uniform requirements, please reach out to your child’s Tutor or Head of House.
As we are move towards warmer days with a higher UV index, can I please also highlight the requirement for student to have and wear their hats when engaging in outdoor activities and lunch and during sport.
In Term 4, the College will be trialing a return to year 10 - 12 students wearing PE uniform to and from school on the days that they have practical PE classes only. While this is only a trial for Term 4, for it to continue in Term 1 next year, students will need to comply with the conditions outlined above. Students who are wearing PE uniform on days when they do not have PE, will be issued a reconnection from their tutor.
