NEW: SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DESCENDANTS OF VETERANS - WORTH UP TO $24,000

Did a parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent serve in the Australian military? Students descended from anyone who served - WWI to today, including peacekeeping - can apply for scholarships worth $4,000 to $8,000 per year for uni or TAFE. That includes the AVCAT scholarships (applications close 31 October) and the Gallipoli Scholarship ($8,000 per year, applications open in January).

Grandchildren and great-grandchildren are eligible, and women's wartime service (nurses, AWAS, WAAAF, WRANS) counts the same as any other. These programs receive far fewer applications than mainstream scholarships - some go unawarded.

THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE NARRM SCHOLARSHIP

If you're an Australian or New Zealand citizen or a holder of an Australian permanent visa and completed Year 12 in Australia, you'll be automatically considered for a Narrm Scholarship when you apply for Access Melbourne, our equity entry scheme. Submit an equity scheme and scholarships application in VTAC alongside your course preferences to be considered.

Living Allowance: Receive $6,500 per year while completing your undergraduate degree (for up to 4 years) to help with living expenses while studying.

Relocation Allowance: Eligible students from regional or remote areas of Australia may receive a one-off payment of $3,000 to assist with moving and settling into accommodation.

Accommodation Allowance: Students from an outer Melbourne local government area or a regional/remote area who secure a place at a participating university accommodation provider or residential college may receive a reduction in accommodation fees of up to $20,000 per year.

SUNRAYSIA ROTARY RIVER HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP

The Rotary Club of Red Cliffs is offering a $5,000 Murray-Darling Basin Scholarship for a student commencing tertiary study in 2027 or a current first-year tertiary student. The scholarship aims to support motivated Sunraysia students pursuing further study that could contribute to addressing challenges facing the Murray-Darling Basin, including climate change, water management, environmental sustainability, community needs, and related issues. Students from a wide range of study areas are encouraged to apply.

YOUTH ALLOWANCE FOR STUDENTS AND AUSTRALIAN APPRENTICES

Youth Allowance is financial help if you’re 24 or younger and a student or Australian Apprentice.

To get this you must be one of the following:

18 to 24 and studying full time
16 to 17, studying full time and either independent or needing to live away from home to study
16 to 17, studying full time and have completed year 12 or equivalent
16 to 24 and doing a full time Australian Apprenticeship.
