‘Seek Peace and Pursue it’
Sandhurst switches off
As part of the Sandhurst Switches Off initiative, our Year 6 “Superhero Energy Savers” took on the important responsibility of helping our school reduce energy use and care for our environment. Neve Hunter, Grace Stevens, Armaan Singh and Cyd Tolentino enthusiastically visited classrooms and learning spaces across the school, checking that lights, devices, screens and power sources had been switched off when not in use.
The students showed wonderful leadership and commitment as they encouraged everyone to think about simple ways we can save energy and protect God’s creation. Their efforts highlighted how small actions can make a big difference when we all work together.
We are very proud of our Energy Saver superheroes for leading by example and helping our school community become more environmentally aware and responsible. Well done, Year 6 leaders!
Whole School ‘Peace Chain’
Last Friday, our whole school community came together in a beautiful display of unity and hope as we participated in our Peace Chain celebration. Led with great pride and leadership by our Year 6 Student Leaders, students and staff gathered to reflect on the importance of peace, kindness and working together as one community.
Each class contributed thoughtfully to the chain, creating messages, prayers and symbols of peace that reminded us all of our shared responsibility to “seek peace and pursue it.”
The colourful chain stretched across the MLC, into the courtyard and then onto the oval, as a visible sign of connection, compassion and belonging within our school.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 leaders for the respectful and confident way they guided the event, encouraging all students to participate and reflect on how we can bring peace into our classrooms, playgrounds, homes and wider community each day.
Thank you to all staff and students for making the afternoon such a meaningful and memorable whole-school experience.
Special Feast day Event - Andrew Chinn Concert Tomorrow - Friday, 15th May
This year, we are excited to welcome Andrew Chinn back to our school for a very special Feast Day celebration.
Our students love singing his songs at Masses, Liturgies, and Assemblies, and we are all looking forward to sharing this joyful experience together once again. Andrew’s music brings energy, faith, and a strong sense of community to our gatherings.
Families are warmly invited to join us and watch Andrew and our students in action on Friday, 15th May, from 1:40pm – 2:40pm in the Notre Dame Sacred Heart Hall.
We hope you can come along and be part of this wonderful celebration!
Term 2 YOUTH MASS
(and Parish Reconciliation Week Mass)
Youth Mass – All Welcome
We warmly invite all students and families to join us for our Term 2 Youth Mass on Saturday 23 May from 6:00pm-7:00pm at St Brendan’s Church.
This Mass will have a special focus on Reconciliation Week, as we come together in prayer, reflection, and respect for our First Nations peoples. Our student choir will lead the congregation in song and prayer, helping to create a meaningful and inclusive celebration.
If you and your children would like to attend and actively participate, we would love to see you there.
Let us gather as a community to celebrate our faith and continue our journey of reconciliation together.
Our Students Prepare for Reconciliation
Our Sacramental students will be celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation this weekend, May 16, and again next weekend, May 23, at St Brendan’s Church. This is a special and meaningful step in their faith journey as they continue preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation.
As a school community, we keep these students in our thoughts and prayers, asking that their experience of this sacrament brings them peace, understanding, and a deep awareness of God’s love and forgiveness. We congratulate them on reaching this important milestone and thank their families for their ongoing support.
