Principal's Report

Dear family and friends of MPW

Congratulations to our students who represented the school at Division Cross Country. We have 4 students who qualified for the Regional Championships, Estelle, Frank, Peppa and Jagger. As always, we encourage them to give their best effort and be proud of the achievement to make the Regional level. Thanks to Bree and the parents who supported our students at these Cross Country events.

Next week our Foundation students are heading off to the Melbourne Zoo to support their inquiry learning about living things. This is always an exciting excursion for students and I hope they enjoy the day with their teachers and parent helpers attending with them.

Reporting

Teachers are currently working through their standardised assessments of students to support the Semester 1 Reporting obligations. A formal written report will be published on Compass on Friday 27th June. This report will give families the opportunity to see their child(ren)’s progress against the Victorian Curriculum. When publishing the Semester Reports, we will again be sharing a document on how to get the most out of the Semester Report.

A reminder that when viewing our different reporting formats throughout the year, that the Ongoing Reporting and Progress Reports are best viewed on a browser. The Compass App has limitations to showing the full aspects of these reporting items.  You can select ‘open in browser’ option in the Compass app to see the full Ongoing Reporting tasks and Progress Report graphs. The Semester Report is a pdf and is generally the only reporting document

Early in Term 3, we will then hold our 3-way conference meetings where students, parents and teachers can discuss the semester report and students’ achievement in the first half of the year. These are generally held in week 3 of the term.

We will provide more information before the end of term regarding both the Semester Reporting and 3-way conferences.

Upcoming Musical Performances

Over the next couple of weeks student who participate in our instrumental music programs will be having the opportunity to perform for their parents, providing experience performing to a large audience. The Moonee Vale Instrumental Music Program (MVIMP) Soiree will be held on Thursday 26th June, providing the opportunity for instrument groups (including brass, percussion, woodwind, strings) and the school band to perform.  Soundgarage will be holding their annual concert on Thursday 19th June at 6.00pm in the Performance Space for students involved in keyboard, singing and ukulele.
