FORWARD PROGRESS!

Things at school continue to be busy with some great results and outcomes.  At assembly on Wednesday we acknowledged all the students who ran in the district cross-country on Friday, as usual our students shine at such events.  It was good to see them so proud out front and receive well deserved applause at assembly.

Another group of students also waiting for acknowledgement at assembly are our Student Representative Council members and School Captains.  They meet weekly at lunch times to identify and provide feedback on topics and new ideas around school.  We have the badges ready to present,  now we are locking in our local state Member of Parliament - Paul Edbrooke to come and present them - an annual special occasion we are all looking forward to.

There continues to be progress on the work site.  The area has been cleared and is being levelled in preparation for the pouring of the slab.  There are a number of window holes cut into the hoarding so students can watch the progress.  It is a very popular activity watching machinery operating, these windows are very popular.  The building pegs are in showing the location and basic layout of the building.  It is exciting knowing what we will gain at the end of the process.

This Sunday our schools aerobics team will be performing at Patterson River Secondary College in the first round of competition for 2024.  The students and staff have been preparing for weeks.  From the sneak preview we saw at our assembly this week, we are looking forward to the outcome.  Last year this team made it all the way to the nationals in Adelaide with ultimate success.

Some of our upper junior classes have had a special experience over the last two weeks through a program of watching eggs hatch and then looking after the chickens for a week.  So successful was the program, that with the chickens leaving today there were a number of students out or sorts.

Mothers day is approaching and the students of Junior Terri are running the mothers day stall Thursday and Friday next week.  Keep an eye out for more information to come early next week.

There is a lot of talk in the news about the social media platforms and the challenges they may provide to our young people.  The advice is to keep a close eye on what our young people are accessing and how they are engaging online.  If you have any questions about how to support them at home,  just reach out to us.

Finally the cold weather has arrived.  Whilst the days may be sunny it can still be very cool so please ensure the students bring appropriate clothing to help them function at their best while at school.
