Laudato Si’ Week

Laudato Si’, meaning “Praise Be”, is an encyclical (official letter) from the Late Pope Francis. He wrote it in 2015 and it is a call to all the people of the world to work together to care for our environment and addressed environmental issues. His letter focused on the need for humanity to recognise the interconnectedness of all things and that we need take action to protect our common home. Laudato Si’ Week is May 17th to May 24th. During this week our Sports and Sustainability team will be asking all students to participate in a “Nude Food” day. Some ideas for this include using small containers that can go home, bento boxes, re-usable sandwich wrappers, whole pieces of fruit or vegetables and thermos’ for soups/noodles.

On Tuesday 27th May the whole school will participate in a walk around the gardens to celebrate this week.

Catholic Education Week Mass

On Thursday 29th May the three catholic primary schools, Sacred Heart, St Brendan’s and St. Mary’s, along with leaders from Trinity, will come together to celebrate mass with Father Andrew. Following this the grade 6 children will then all gather together to do some fun teamwork activities. This will allow the children opportunities to make new friendships prior to secondary school.
