NORTHERN METROPOLITAN REGION TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
On Wednesday 14th October, five students proudly represented Greenhills at the Northern Metropolitan Region Track & Field Championships, held at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium. This is the third, and one of the most challenging, levels of competition in the SSV Track & Field calendar.
Congratulations to our amazing athletes:
- Charlie B (6RM)
- Arlo C (6LB)
- Jackson H (6SM)
- Pippa M (34S)
- Chris W (6LB)
Qualifying for this level of competition is an incredible achievement in itself, placing these students among the top 100 athletes in Victoria for their age group and event! They should be incredibly proud of their efforts and the hard work that got them there, as we certainly are.
A special shout-out to Charlie and Chris, who finished 1st or 2nd in their respective events and have qualified for the State Championships in the coming weeks. What an outstanding achievement! We wish you both the very best of luck at State!
NILLUMBIK DIVISION BOYS/MIXED CRICKET FINALS
Congratulations to the Greenhills Boys/Mixed Cricket team, who finished third at last Friday’s Nillumbik Division Finals held at Eltham North Reserve.
This was the second level of competition, following their successful progression through the district interschool sport program.
They demonstrated a high level of skill and teamwork, pushing the eventual winners, Apollo Parkways, harder than any other team. Most importantly, they had fun along the way, which is what sport is all about!
Well done, boys! Reaching this level of competition and performing so well is a fantastic achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder of your efforts.
COMMUNITY SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS
Massive shout out to Makenzie H (1BH), who had the exciting opportunity to play at half-time during the AFLW Gold Coast vs Essendon game over the holidays! Makenzie kicked two goals and had a fantastic time out on the field.
Keep kicking goals, Makenzie!
Massive congratulations to Eloise M (Prep IH), who competed at the Summersalt Gymnastics Club Championships over the weekend!
Eloise placed 3rd in vault, along with two 4th-place finishes and two 5th-place finishes across the other events. What a fantastic effort! Eloise was deservedly stoked with her results.
Keep reaching new heights, Eloise!
Huge congratulations to Sarah B (5KJ), who has been selected for the Football Victoria Academy, capping off an outstanding season with the Eltham Redbacks!
The Football Victoria Academy is a premier talent development pathway, identifying and nurturing some of Victoria’s most talented young footballers. As part of the program, Sarah will compete in the Girls Victorian Youth Premier League (GVYPL) and train at the Home of the Matildas.
Having competed in the U13 GVYPL1 competition this year at just 10 and 11 years old, Sarah’s selection is an incredible achievement. She was also named the inaugural winner of the Keely Lockhart Memorial Award at the Eltham Redbacks presentation evening - another fantastic recognition of her efforts this season.
Keep chasing your football dreams, Sarah!
If your child achieves something special (grand final win, most valuable player award, best and fairest etc.), please email me (jordan.daley@education.vic.gov.au) through photos and an overview of the achievement to post in the newsletter. It is important to celebrate and recognise such successes with the school community.
Thank you,
Jordan Daley
