Prayer
"God took the strength of a mountain, the majesty of a tree, the warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a quiet sea, the generous soul of nature, the comforting arm of night, the wisdom of the ages, the power of the eagle’s flight, the joy of a morning in spring, the faith of a mustard seed, the patience of eternity, the depth of a family need, then God combined these qualities, when there was nothing more to add, He knew His masterpiece was complete, and so, He called it … Dad."

Book Week: Reading is Magic
Last Friday was a wonderful celebration of Book Week and our favourite characters from the books we love. It was truly magic to watch our children come dressed in their various costumes, some of which appeared to take great planning, consideration and creative energy! Thank you to One/Two G who lead our parade with their assembly, beautiful prayer and then the sharing of some of their favourite books, after which all classes took the opportunity to walk through the crowd and show their magnificent costumes. Thank you to all for your efforts!!
It was wonderful to have our Kinder Kids join us for the book week parade and also come dressed in their favourite book week characters too. They enjoyed some time reading with the Year 5s after the book week parade.
Science Week
This week we celebrated Science Week in our classrooms and in Science Specialist classes. The theme for the week was 'Species Survival' and we explored eco-systems and what all species need to ensure their own survival, including humans. Some class also explored how Rube Goldberg machines work, machines which have a chain-reaction contraption designed to achieve a simple task using indirect, impractical, overly-complicated steps. We used whatever we had around our classrooms and engineered our own machines. It was lots of fun!
Year Three/Four Excursion - Melbourne Zoo
On Monday this week the Year Three/Four Level attended the Melbourne Zoo as part of their Inquiry Learning for this term. Our main focus for this experience was identifying animals' countries of origin on a world map with a lens on Australia's neighbouring countries that the students have been researching. We also considered what climate and vegetation the creature would be used to and how the zoo had catered for this in their enclosures.
Most of the students strolled along the trail of the elephants, gorilla rainforest, wild sea, lion gorge and finished with the frogs and reptiles. Some of our learnings on this day were attending a workshop and learning how to be researchers by looking around our living environment and cataloging signs of life.
The best part of the day was walking through the aviary and realising that there were three distinct areas within it, woodlands, wetlands and rainforest. The students had a great time trying to spot the elusive cassowary.
A huge thank you to our parent helpers and learning support officers on the day, we really appreciated your presence and support in making this such a memorable day for our students.
