Welcome to our Banksia group. We are so happy to be back home at Livingston St. The first few weeks of kindergarten can be an exciting and sometimes challenging time for our little ones as they adjust to a new environment. We have been focusing on creating a safe and nurturing space where each child feels comfortable and confident. We've been slowly introducing routines and practices, helping the children get used to the daily schedule, and supporting them as they explore the new classroom. Everyone is gradually becoming familiar with our classroom, and it’s been wonderful to see the growth in their confidence.
Building positive relationships with peers is an important part of kinder. We've been working on helping children understand how to be good friends, how to cooperate and share with others and show kindness. Now we are back at Livingston in our own space, we have introduced buddy time with the group. Buddy time is a short activity we do altogether with the children in pairs, it could be puzzles, Lego building, drawing or a game etc. Buddy time supports the children with communication, problem solving, sharing and making new connections with different kinder peers.
To help ensure that everyone feels comfortable and safe, we’ve introduced the concept of “space bubbles” to help our friends understand personal space. We’re teaching children how to respect others’ personal space by keeping a “bubble” around them when playing and interacting with friends. This practice helps children understand boundaries, stay safe, and be mindful of others’ comfort. It’s also been fun for the kids to imagine the bubbles around them as a friendly and protective way of taking care of one another.
Now we are back at Livingston we are looking forward to getting into learning opportunities in the weeks to come, including some cooking and group games. Our goal is to nurture each child’s social, emotional, and academic growth in a positive and engaging way. We truly appreciate your continued support and are so happy to be part of your child's early learning experience.
