Primary School

Today, all students in Year 5 and Year 6 participated in the annual Echuca Campaspe Primary Netball Tournament. Students played in multiple mini games throughout the day, demonstrating wonderful teamwork, encouragement and sportsmanship both on and off the court. It was a fantastic day out!

Thank you to all staff, parent coaches and sideline supporters who assisted in making the day such a success.

School Photos

Over the past two days, MSP Photography has been onsite capturing images of students, including individual portraits, class photos and family photos where requested. If your child was absent on either day, we encourage families to contact MSP Photography directly on (03) 5482 3190 to discuss alternative arrangements.

Primary Assembly

Our Primary Assembly on Thursday 21 May was led with confidence by this year’s Perricoota House Captains, Archie Flanigan and Chloe Wildes. The assembly began with an Acknowledgement of Country, followed by the National Anthem, and a meaningful Bible reading and prayer led by Cleo Guinan, Reverend Tim and Alex Melville. We also took a moment to celebrate Miss Greenwood on completing her Bachelor of Education, an outstanding achievement.

Students and families were treated to wonderful performances, including Ted Knight on guitar, the Year 5 Music Class performing Catchbottle, and a preview of Mary Poppins Jr. featuring Izzy Cunningham, Finley Bachelor and Billy Sidauruk. We welcomed Terry and Suzie James from the Kiwanis Club to present the Term 2 Terrific Kids Awards. These special awards celebrate one student from each class, as nominated by classroom and specialist teachers, who consistently demonstrates the TERRIFIC characteristics: being thoughtful, enthusiastic, respectful, responsible, inclusive, friendly, inquisitive and capable.

We are incredibly proud of the students recognised this term and the positive values they bring to our school community each day. Congratulations to the following students:

The Assembly highlighted student voice and leadership, with our Year 6 leaders sharing insights from the GRIP Leadership Day they recently attended. Chloe shared how leaders can demonstrate integrity by always telling the truth, aiming for high standards, apologising for mistakes, acting according to their values, and ensuring their actions match their words.

Our Year 3 students proudly presented their creative sequel work inspired by Fantastic Mr Fox, showcasing their imagination and descriptive writing skills.

Primary Athletics Carnival

Our students enjoyed a fantastic day at the Primary Athletics Carnival on Friday 22 May, with the weather well and truly on our side. It was wonderful to see so many students giving their best effort, demonstrating great sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the day.

Thank you to the many families who came along to cheer on their children. Your support helped create a wonderful atmosphere and contributed greatly to the overall success of the day.

Families are invited to read further information, view individual results, and enjoy more photos on the Co-Curricular page of this newsletter.

National Simultaneous Storytime

In the lead-up to National Simultaneous Storytime, students in Kindergarten to Year 3 have been discussing the featured book, Luna Roo, the Kangaroo Baller. We drew on students’ prediction skills by exploring the cover and unpacking key terms from the blurb, such as rookieFCunderdogs and pitch.

Year 3 students also learnt about the two authors, who have both been involved in football (soccer) in a variety of roles, including playing, coaching and reporting, and who now write a series of picture storybooks.

In the lesson prior to the event, all students created their own Luna Roo masks, which added to the excitement and engagement on the day.

Stage 3 Assembly

On Wednesday 13 May, students came together for the Stage 3 Assembly, which was run by Year 6A. Dakota and Lily hosted the assembly, and Fletcher presented the Acknowledgement of Country.

Louis and Hudson spoke about the Campaspe Soccer Tournament and how exciting and full of energy it was. Halle, Denny and Sophie also shared news about the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, where MAGS came second in the state after a tough game against a strong Melbourne team in the grand final.

Akain, Hudson and Harry showed their posters about bushfire safety and explained how and when to be prepared. Jewel and Maya also gave us an update on RAS Cross Country.

Overall, it was a great assembly that celebrated many of the recent events and achievements at our school.

Netball NSW Schools Cup Primary

Despite unsettled weather throughout the day in Albury, conditions cleared just in time for the finals, allowing for a fantastic finish to the Netball NSW Schools Cup on Tuesday 19 May. Two Year 5/6 teams represented the school, with students showing great resilience and adaptability after teams were finalised on the day due to scheduling clashes. The Girls team enjoyed a strong performance in the social competition, winning four of their five games and gaining valuable experience across multiple positions.

The Mixed team demonstrated impressive determination, recovering from an opening loss to win their remaining games and progress to the semi-finals, where they secured a convincing win against Scots Albury. In a rematch against St Michael’s Deniliquin, they delivered an outstanding performance to win 11–7, earning progression to Phase 2 in Wagga Wagga. Congratulations to all players, with special thanks to umpires Teagan Moon and Lyla Harris for their excellent work, and to Mrs Pascoe for coaching the mixed team on the day.

Message from the Office

As we move into the winter months, we kindly ask for families’ support in ensuring students are wearing the correct formal winter uniform each day. Wearing the uniform consistently helps promote a sense of pride, belonging and unity within our school community.

A friendly reminder that the approved uniform includes blue stockings or plain blue knee-high socks. Short blue socks that expose the leg, or socks with logos, are not part of the formal winter uniform.

Further information about the school uniform can be found in the Student Diary on pages 12–15. We appreciate your support in helping students meet these expectations and thank you for your ongoing partnership in maintaining our high standards.
