Mary Poppins Student Reflections

We asked the Year 6 students to reflect on the whole process of Mary Poppins JR…

Phoebe F - Mary Poppins	The Mary Poppins Production was an amazing experience. My favorite part of the production was definitely getting to hang out with all of the leads in the dressing rooms. We got ready in our costumes, helped each other with our makeup and gave each other heaps of confidence to go out there and have fun!
Isla T - Winifred Banks	The Mary Poppins production was so exciting, one of my favorite parts was seeing all of the different parts backstage and looking at all of the things they have to do to get everyone ready for it. Another thing that was exciting was getting to see our dressing rooms! We all helped each other get ready.
Matthew Di P - Bank Clerk	My favourite part of the production was that I was in a group with all my friends and performing on stage. The bows were also very fun. Everybody was so good on stage and it was so good to see them perform with their best effort.
Aris K - Chimney Sweep	My favorite part of the production was the prolouge when the curtains opened and the show began. I also enjoyed sitting in a circle with my friends playing cards. The production was great.
Levi F - Chimney sweep	My favorite part of the production was that we got a lot of time on the stage even though we were the ensemble group. I liked the rooms we stayed in, overall I would like to do it again.
Asrid W - Special Dancer	My favourite part of the production was the prologue at the start, when we were all together, and also playing cards with my friends. It was so cool seeing everyone dressed up in their amazing costumes with all of the makeup on ready to perform!
Arlo S - George Banks	Mary Poppins was a hit! My favourite part was the change rooms with all the leads, chatting and hanging out with everyone. I also loved performing in front of the crowd. The clapping, laughing and joy was exhilarating.
Jessie G-W - Chimney Sweep	Mary Poppins was a blast! We all enjoyed every second of it, from sitting in the changing rooms playing uno, to being on the stage performing in front of hundreds of people! We nailed all the scenes, songs and dances, and our makeup looked smashing. My favourite parts were when we were just about to go on stage, because the nerves were really kicking in. I also loved being in the changerooms playing uno with my friends!
Reuben J - Chimney Sweep	Mary Poppins was so fun! My favorite part was probably waiting for our dance and playing with my friends in the room we were in. I also enjoyed lining up backstage ready for our time to shine.
Jamieson C - Special Dancer	It was a blast, everyone looked amazing and we all got off to a great start. At first I was really nervous to go on stage but once I was on stage all the fear left. After the prologue the special dancers had to go backstage to get ready for Practically Perfect.
Kiera W - Lead Chimney Sweep	It started after the school bell rang and we all started to get ready for the production, including make up hair and costumes. After getting ready and arriving at the theatre we were put into our dressing rooms ready for the production. It was a blast and something I will never forget.
Kalliopi M - Special Dancer	The night was AMAZING! Everyone performed so well. Being on stage was very nerve racking at first, but in the end we had an absolute blast. The costumes were great, the vibes were exhilarating and everyone had a wonderful time. Not only on stage, but hanging out with your friends both backstage and in the changerooms. It was an unforgettable experience.
Ava S - Katie Nanna/ Special Dancer	Mary Poppins was such a fun and exciting experience! I loved going out on stage and dancing in the lights. All the leads had dressing rooms and everyone was encouraging each other. I loved my speaking part in Scene 1 and my favourite song was Brimstone And Treacle Part 2. I also loved hanging out with all my friends!
Isabelle W - Chimney Sweep	When the show started I felt very excited. It was very fun hanging out with my friends in the room. We ate lollies and watched the show.
Luca O - Chimney Sweep	My favourite part of Mary Poppins Jr was being on stage with my friends in front of all the proud parents. My favourite scenes are Step In Time, Prologue and the Finale.
Laine W - Birdwoman	Being on stage was so fun and I was really surprised because I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. When I was on stage I didn't want to get off and this has been by far my favourite production. My character is a caring old woman who loves birds. I love my song and the fact that it is Walt Disney's favourite makes it even more special.
Lara-Rose V D - Lead chimney sweep	The Mary Poppins production was a fun experience filled with nerves and excitement. I loved watching all the talented performers at rehearsals and the real show. At first I was really scared I was going to mess up, but everything went to plan and it was a great show. My favourite part was Step In Time because it was fun and enjoyable! I loved getting choreographed by Miss Mclean and being taught all those songs by Miss Dunk.
Liam J - Policeman & Bank clerk	I loved our St Joseph’s production Mary Poppins, it was a whirlwind of emotions onstage, backstage, in the wings, and in the changerooms! My favourite songs were Brimstone and Treacle, Feed the Birds, and Anything Can Happen. When on stage the adrenaline is pumping. I love the feeling of singing and dancing in character with everything going on around you. It really takes your breath away! I really enjoy chatting to my friends before and after their senes, it can make a big difference on the nerves!
Frankie B - John Northbrook	The production was an amazing experience and my favourite part was playing cards with my friends in the leads dressing rooms.
George Z - Chimney Sweep Ensemble	The production was fantastic! It was an amazing night and everyone did so good. My favourite part was when we kicked our knees up step by step when dancing. Miss Mclean did an amazing role with all the choreography. It was an amazing day and I would 100% do it again.
Amirr S - Chimney Sweep	The production was very exciting. I loved my role as a chimney sweeper and I loved dancing with my friends.
Tom M - Bank Clerk Ensemble	The production was really fun because of the games and the singing and acting. I am glad to be a part of the production and had lots of fun.
Charlie F - Robertson Ay	The Mary Poppins play was my favorite out of the last 3 shows we have done. I was Robertson Ay and I very much enjoyed my time on stage. From the beginning to the end I loved my role, all the leads and I had a lot of rehearsals to make our play perfect. My character is a house boy in the Banks family, he is particularly very funny and lazy. My favourite scene was Scene 4-5 because it was a Spoonful of Sugar. I had to slip with a cake and become unconscious, and got quite a bit of laughs. My experience was amazing and I had a spoonful of fun, I would definitely do it again.
Finn G - Chimney Sweep	My favourite part of the Mary Poppins JR production was Step In Time. It was very fun and i would 100% do it again. When we went on stage I could see my family, it was hard to see because the bright lights were shining on us.
Hector G - Chimney Sweep	The production was very fun, my favourite part of the production was watching my friends perform. They were very good. My second favourite thing was performing, although it was nerve racking it was very fun and I had a great time.
Pen G - Miss Andrew	Watching this outstanding production come together was something I've never experienced before. All of the people involved took up their time to help get all of the leads and ensembles ready to rock! Being on stage was really nerve racking. If you make a small mistake people will remember what you did to improve not what happened. You will love every moment and night two is always the best because you just get to sit back and enjoy!
Zach C - Chimney Sweep	The production was very exciting and the best part was when we sang Step In Time, it was very fun. I thought it was a great experience and I would do it again.
Ethan N - Bank Clerk	The production was very exciting and ended up being extremely fun. My favorite part is when all the Bank clerks sang Supercalifragilisticexpialidous. In conclusion the Mary Poppins JR performance was definitely a highlight of the year in Grade 6.
Maddy T - Chimney Sweep Ensemble	The Mary Poppins Production was so fun. My favourite part was hanging out with all my friends and watching it come together. I also liked playing uno with my friends and performing on stage.
Willow E - Special Dancer Ensemble	The Mary Poppins Production was super fun and exciting. At first it was very nerve racking, but the more we performed the more fun it became! We were all having so much fun on stage and off stage and I loved watching all of my friends perform! I am super excited for night two!
Edwina M - Chimney Sweep	Mary Poppins was very fun. My favorite part was dancing with my friends and hanging out and watching the show.
Willow P - Chimney Sweep	My favorite part of this unbelievable production is watching all of my friends do amazing roles, and hanging out with all of my friends. And of course being on the amazing stage, it was such an awesome experience and I can't wait to see my brothers in the next show.
