Year 2 - Excursion to Werribee Mansion

When I first arrived at Werribee Mansion, I noticed that the farm was humongous and it had 80,000 sheep. It also had a blacksmith.  Zachary

After visiting Werribee Mansion, I liked the bus ride because I saw a blue Corvette. Oscar

When I first arrived at Werribee Mansion, I noticed that there were big and small radios and basketball trophies. In the 1800s, some people had nannies and butlers. Konstantine

One thing that was different in the 1800s for school was they used slate boards and cloth instead of whiteboards and books.  Mila

My favourite part of Werribee Mansion was the lake and grotto. We saw some swans, ducks, a stork and walked around.  Navy

My favourite part of visiting Werribee Mansion was when me and Kozi were doing an interesting puppet show. Everyone was laughing at our play because it was very very very very weird, so we started laughing too. It was just too funny for us and we couldn’t stop laughing.  Lisa

I loved doing the scavenger hunt and looking at all of the old-fashioned dresses. Annabelle

My favourite part of visiting Werribee Mansion was seeing the puppet show because it was very funny. It made me laugh and giggle. The puppet show was hilarious and it made my friends laugh. Theo

My favourite part of visiting Werribee Mansion was the kids' room because it had so many interesting toys and dolls.  Mischa

My favourite part of visiting Werribee Mansion was eating our snack and lunch on the lawn because it was a sunny day and we got to play tag. Eveie

When I first arrived at Werribee Mansion, I didn’t think it would’ve been so big! We couldn't have done it without our parent helper Michael-Angelo’s mum, Marina. Henry

Something I will remember about Werribee Mansion is in the dining room, two women worked on the food. It usually took half an hour to cook literally everything. The Chirnside family, who lived at this mansion, said it took too long. They were angry they had to get new workers over and over, and it got frustrating.  Luca

Something I was shocked about in the1800s is that kids would stay in their room with their nanny until they were 16 or 17. They couldn’t spend time with their parents in the other rooms of the house. The only time they could spend time with their family was when they came together for dinner. When most children turned 16 or 17, they would get a job as a maid or something like that.  Eleanor

Around the corner, a lake was there. And an island that was in the middle. I loved how the island was made. Ethan L

One thing I learnt about life in the 1800s was that kids back then had to be extremely lucky to join dinner parties with their family and show off to their guests if they were under 16. Rose

I enjoyed eating our snack on the step and on the lawn at the mansion, I also enjoyed playing tiggy on the lawn. It was really fun. My lunch was a sandwich and some sweet treats. Werribee Mansion was massive and awesome. I had loads of fun. It was the best day ever.  Carter

My very favourite part of visiting Werribee Mansion was the very cool, interesting, funny, competitive, adventurous, plus very, very sleepy and funny bus ride!  Michael-Angelo

When I went to Werribee Mansion, my favourite bit was going in the mansion and looking at what they did in the 1800s. I loved it.   Robbie

The people who lived at Werribee Mansion had to walk up the stairs in a unique and fancy way. The girls had to hold the right of their dress. The boys had to put their left hand behind their back. Our guide at the mansion said girls wear their dress really tight around the waist using a corset. Ethan U

When we went to the Werribee Mansion, in the kids' room, girls had to play with wooden dolls and boys had to play with wooden soldiers.  Amira
