1. Enterprise German project for Year 10 students – Oberon wins 3rd place in Australia!

Students in Year 10 German have spent many hours working on this project in class. They worked in small groups with some German companies based in Australia. These companies included Miele, Wagner Fire Protection, Viessmann, BMW, Byron Bay Pretzels, SBS and Lüneburger Bakery. The groups had to develop a new concept or product for their company and present the end result in an advertising video, poster or brochure.

All tasks were conducted in German. Students improved their knowledge of the German speaking community in Australia as well as their German language skills.

The prize ceremony was held last week and Oberon had one group which was amongst the 7 shortlisted. Oberon went on to win 3rd prize with the group representing SBS and comprised of Scarlett Pogue, Joselle Carriedo and Jayde Walker.

Overall 400 students in Australia participated from 17 schools. There were 52 amazing ideas. 

Well done to Scarlett, Joselle and Jayde on winning $150 for their outstanding idea and video!

2. Nikolaus Activity – for German Students

On Thursday 4th December the German Teachers’ Network in Geelong will hold a traditional Christmas activity at German Club in Norlane. The activity starts at 5.15pm and is free for those participating. 

Highlight will be the visit of Sankt Nikolaus with his helper Knecht Ruprecht.

Please see your German teacher if interested, however, please note that numbers are limited for this activity. Bring your permission slips back quickly!
