NAPLAN: We Are Proud of Our Students
Over the past couple of days our Year 3 and Year 5 students have been completing their NAPLAN assessments. We are incredibly proud of the calm focus, persistence and determination they have shown while doing their best.
At Launching Place Primary School we talk with students about NAPLAN as an opportunity to show what they know, not something to feel worried about. Our teachers have been so impressed by the way students approached each session with a positive mindset and gave their best effort.
It is also important to remember that NAPLAN is not a test of individual students, but rather a tool that helps schools evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching and learning programs. The information we gain helps us reflect on what is working well and where we can continue to strengthen our teaching practices to support all learners.
Thank you to our families for supporting students to arrive at school well-rested and ready to learn during the testing period. Your encouragement makes a big difference.
Most importantly, we remind our students that their effort, growth and curiosity as learners matter far more than any single test.
Garden Club Growing Strong
Garden Club has been buzzing with activity over the past few weeks. Students have been busy planting, watering and saving seeds while learning about how our garden grows.
Our Prep students have been particularly enthusiastic helpers, full of curiosity and great questions as they explore the garden spaces. Students also recently harvested some delicious home-grown plums, which were chopped up and shared around the playground – a lovely treat for everyone!
A big thank you to Carina and our garden helpers for their energy and care in looking after this special part of our school.
Launch Swimming Carnival Success
What a fantastic day we had at our Launch Swimming Carnival! Students enjoyed a wonderful mix of swimming races, games and kayaking activities, with terrific participation from across the school.
It was fantastic to see so many families come along to cheer on our students and enjoy the day together. Our staff and Mr D did an amazing job keeping the carnival running smoothly and ensuring everyone had a chance to get involved.
Congratulations to Bellbird, who were crowned our overall house champions for the day!
Harmony Day – Coming Soon
We are looking forward to celebrating Harmony Day at Launching Place Primary School on Thursday 19th March.
Harmony Day is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to celebrate diversity, inclusion and belonging, recognising that everyone brings something valuable to our community.
Students will take part in a range of activities throughout the day, including a special incursion, collaborative artwork and classroom activities that explore culture, respect and kindness.
We look forward to sharing this special day together.
Colour Run Fundraising
Thank you to our families for the wonderful support already shown for our upcoming Colour Run fundraiser.
We are very grateful for the efforts of our Parents and Friends group, who have organised this exciting event for our school community. The funds raised will help support resources and opportunities for our students.
There is still time for families to contribute or seek sponsorship. Every little bit helps, and we truly appreciate the support of our Launch community.
School Council Meeting – Monday 16 March
Our next School Council meeting will be held on Monday 16 March.
This meeting is open to members of our school community who would like to attend. During the meeting we will be presenting the School Annual Report, as well as conducting the election of the School Council President and Treasurer.
Families who are interested in learning more about the work of School Council are warmly welcome to attend.
