Art News: Year 5
Art Room Buzz: Year 5's Creative Celebration of the Paris Olympics!
The Art Room has been a hive of activity this semester, buzzing with creativity and inspiration. Our Year 5 students embarked on an exciting artistic journey, delving into the vibrant world of Keith Haring, whose bold, energetic works have inspired generations.
Drawing on their study of Haring’s life and art, as well as the excitement of the Paris Olympics 2024, the Year 5 students collaborated as a year level to create a spectacular Keith Haring-style Olympic mural. This vibrant masterpiece celebrates the diversity of sports showcased at the Paris Olympics, capturing the movement and energy of athletes in action.
In addition to the mural, each student designed their own Keith Haring-inspired Olympic action figure. Some of these figures have been incorporated into the mural, adding personal flair and showcasing their unique talents.
The mural, a colourful tribute to sport and art, is proudly displayed just outside the Art Room.
Under the Sea Set Design: A Spectacular School Disco Success!
Our school disco made a splash this year with a dazzling "Under the Sea" theme, brought to life by the incredible creativity and teamwork of our students from. The transformation of our disco space into an underwater wonderland was no small feat, but all art classes from Foundation to Year 5 rose to the challenge with enthusiasm and flair.
In just two to three days, students collaborated during Art and some STEAM classes to create vibrant sea-themed artwork. From Nemo and Flounder to mermaids, jellyfish, rainbow fish, sharks, crabs, and starfish, the "Under the Sea" environment was brimming with colour and imagination. Each class worked together to design, craft, and assemble their unique sea creatures, creating a magical undersea world that made the disco truly unforgettable.
A big thank you also goes to Ms. Rozbach (STEAM) and Casual Relief Teacher (STEAM) Donna for their support and guidance in helping students create the sea creatures.
Well done to all our talented Ormond Primary School students for their incredible effort in making this year’s school disco an event to remember!
