Year 2: Aspiring Leaders

Anna Starchenko, Year 2 Team Leader

This term, a number of our Year 2 students have stepped into the role of Aspiring Leaders, taking on important responsibilities within the P–2 playground. To launch the program, all students attended the inaugural Mini Leadership Conference, where they participated in practical workshops designed to build their confidence, communication and problem-solving skills. Students also explored the importance of positive social interactions, learning how to confidently approach the teacher on yard duty, introduce themselves and offer their support to others.

Aspiring Leaders wear special lanyards to identify themselves, which also display our DCC Agreements as a helpful reminder of the expectations they can encourage in others. During lunchtimes, these students assist peers who may need gentle reminders, support children in solving simple social problems and help mediate minor disputes in a calm and respectful way.

Beyond the playground, some students have embraced additional leadership opportunities, including serving as Library Monitors, assisting at Sub-School Assemblies and leading prayer during Year 2 assemblies. These roles provide meaningful opportunities for students to contribute to the wider school community while developing their confidence and communication skills.

It has been wonderful to watch our Aspiring Leaders take such pride in helping others and modelling behaviour. We are proud of all the students who have volunteered to participate in this program so far. Their willingness to step up and support their peers has made them a valuable asset within the P–2 playground area, and they are already making a positive difference to our school community!

Year 6 Camp

AnnMarie Huddleston, Year 6 Teacher

Waving goodbye with a buzz of excitement, our Year Six students set off for a week of fun at Phillip Island Adventure Resort. The thrill-seekers among us particularly enjoyed high-adrenaline activities such as the giant swing, flying fox, and raft-making. Other favourites included bush pancake-making, canoeing, and a lively game of disc golf! Our Hollywood dress up and evening activities added even more excitement to the week, with a new activity each night that filled the site with laughter and joy.

With a new environment, each student engaged in new challenges and stepped out of their comfort zone, demonstrating strong teamwork, resilience and curiosity as they built new memories.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our amazing students, dedicated staff, and incredible parent helpers. Your support made this week run seamlessly and joyfully. We are truly grateful to the Lord for such a special and enriching camp experience!
