Principal's Piece 

Term 3, Week 1

Welcome back to Term 3.  It has been a positive start to the term and great to see our students ready for another exciting term of learning and fun. We have lots of learning opportunities and events planned across all year levels this term. Some of which include: celebrating 100 Days of Prep, PJ Day, Book week, Year 4 Camp, Year 6 Sacrament of Confirmation, Community engagement events, Father’s Day morning, Feast Day celebrations and of course, Footy Day to end the term.

Congratulations to our Semester 2 Class Captains, I’m sure they are going to do an exceptional job at being positive role models and demonstrating our school expectations of being safe, respectful, responsible and kind. Thank you to our Semester 1 Class Captains for their enthusiasm and commitment to their class captain roles and responsibilities. 

Stage 2 of our building works have now been completed, and we have officially had the handover of our new facilities. While there are still a few minor finishing touches to be completed over the coming weeks, these new learning and community spaces are now fully operational and ready for use.

Our students and staff are already enjoying the benefits of our spacious new canteen, which provides a modern and welcoming space to support our school community. We are also pleased to announce that MACSEYE is now operating from its new entrance on Bridgewater Road, making access more convenient for families using the service.

With the completion of the new toilet facilities, we have also reviewed our student amenities during recess and lunch breaks. From this term, students will use the following designated toilet areas:

• Prep – Year 3: Toilets located in the Years 2, 3 and 4 building.
• Years 4 – 6: New toilet block.

These improvements are another exciting step in enhancing our school's facilities and ensuring a safe, welcoming and well-resourced environment for all students. We thank our families for their patience and understanding throughout the building process and look forward to making the most of these wonderful new spaces.

Next Friday, our whole school will be acknowledging National Pyjama Day. Students are invited to wear their pyjamas or oodies to school and bring along a gold coin donation.It’s a fun way for everyone to get involved and show their support, while helping raise funds and awareness for children in foster care. This term, we are proud to support the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal through our Hoodies, Woollies and Winter Goodies Donation Drive. We are inviting our families to help those in need within our wider community by donating new winter essentials. We are collecting items such as beanies, scarves, gloves and blankets to provide warmth and comfort to individuals and families experiencing hardship.This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to demonstrate kindness, compassion and our commitment to living out our Gospel values by supporting others.

NAPLAN reports for our Year 3 and Year 5 students have arrived. Hard copies will be sent home with students on Monday and there will also be electronic copies available via COMPASS. Overall, our students have achieved impressive results, which reflects their hard work and dedication. These assessments provide valuable insight into your child’s progress in literacy and numeracy, helping us as a school to identify strengths and areas for further growth. While NAPLAN is just one snapshot of your child’s learning, it plays an important role in informing our teaching and ensuring we continue to meet the learning needs of all students. 

Due to the cold and rainy winter weather, our Friday whole school assemblies this term will be held online. Parents and carers who would like to attend our assemblies are invited to join us in the school library at 3:00 pm, where the assembly will be livestreamed at school. 

As part of our commitment to maintaining transparent, up-to-date and compliant school practices, a number of our school policies have recently been reviewed and updated. The following documents are now available on our school website:

• Anaphylaxis Management Policy
• Assessment and Reporting Policy and Overview
• Complaints Handling Policy and Procedures
• Three additional Child Safety – PROTECT Procedure documents

We encourage all families to take the time to familiarise themselves with these updated policies. They provide important information about the procedures and practices that guide our school community and help ensure a safe, supportive and effective learning environment for all students.

The Smile Squad school dental program will be visiting our school during Term 3, from Tuesday 8 September to Friday 18 September 2026. Smile Squad is the Victorian Government's free school dental program, providing all students with access to a free dental check-up, preventive care and any treatment required. This is a great opportunity for students to receive quality dental care at school at no cost to families. To enable your child to participate, please complete and return the Smile Squad consent form that was sent on COMPASS by Friday 31 July 2026. If you require a paper copy of the consent form, these are available from the school office.

School closure day this semester:  Monday 3rd August, Monday 2nd November, Friday 27th November.
