What a wonderful start to Term 2 here in the 1/2 area!
This term our students are travelling back in time to explore the past! We have been looking at significant people and places that have shaped our word into what it is today. Additionally, we are watching a series ‘Back in Time for Dinner’, where people travel back in time so that we can immerse ourselves into the lives of the past. Students have found it fascinating to see the differences in our community that have happened over just a few decades.
In numeracy, we have been exploring subtraction and multiplication using arrays! Take a look at the photo of our students having a go at using the ‘jump strategy’ to assist us with our subtraction. Well done 1/2’s for your persistent hard work!
Multicultural Day
Our whole school participated in Multicultural day. A day of celebrating our incredible multicultural community that we have here at BPS. Students came dressed in either flag colours or traditional clothing from their nationality. It was wonderful to see so many students proud to display their heritage and to show respect and appreciation for diverse cultures. Thank you to all the parents and guardians who contributed to our Multicultural lunch. All were excited to try a range of different cuisines and there was plenty to go around! Each student also received a handprint to decorate with the flag or colours of the different countries our families are from. Our artwork is displayed beautifully in our Learning Community! What a great representation of the diversity within our cohort.
Bundoora Secondary College Farm Visit
Our 1/2 students were very lucky to receive a special invitation from Bundoora Secondary College to visit the dairy cows who are temporarily living at the College Farm. During our visit we were able to pet baby goats, bottle feed the cows and learn interesting facts about cows. Many were shocked to hear that cows have 4 stomachs! We are so proud of our amazing students for representing our school through displays of respectful behaviour toward the animals and Bundoora Secondary staff and for some, facing emotions of anxiety and nerves to be around baby animals that were almost as big as them!
Thank you very much to the wonderful Bundoora Secondary staff and students for inviting us and for sharing your knowledge and time to teach us about the animals at your school! We had so much fun!
We look forward to continuing through the term with many more exciting events coming up, such as our First Aid Super-Hero’s incursion, Melbourne Museum excursion and whole school Nudel Kart STEM incursion! It’s going to be a busy one!
