Principal's Message

Term Two continues to be both productive and enjoyable, with a wide range of opportunities for our students to learn, connect and thrive. It has been wonderful to see students embracing these experiences and getting the most out of Launch life.

Puffing Billy – Year 1/2

Our Year 1/2 students had a fantastic day out on their Puffing Billy excursion last Friday, enjoying the unique experience of travelling through the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. It was wonderful to see students engaged, excited and making the most of this memorable learning opportunity. A big thank you to our staff who organised and made the day so special.

ALPHA Performance

Our students were treated to the ALPHA performance of ‘Hercules!’ last Wednesday, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It was fantastic to see our school community come together for this fun shared experience. Thank you to those families and younger siblings who were also able to attend.

ANZAC Day March

Thank you to the many families who attended the ANZAC Day March on Saturday 25th April. It was a terrific turnout from our Launch community and a wonderful opportunity for students to show respect and reflect on the significance of the day.

Year 6 Upper Yarra Museum Visit

Thursday last week our Year 6 students travelled on local public transport to visit the Upper Yarra Museum, deepening their understanding of local history and community. These authentic learning experiences help bring classroom learning to life and build important connections to place.

Year 6 – RSL ANZAC Schools Program

Our Year 6 students also participated in the RSL ANZAC Schools Program on Wednesday this week, representing our school with respect and maturity. This was a valuable opportunity for students to engage more deeply with the meaning of ANZAC Day and reflect on service and sacrifice.

Puberty Education Sessions

This week our Year 5/6 students participated in puberty education sessions, supporting their understanding of personal development and wellbeing. These sessions are an important part of our Health curriculum. All students would benefit from further discussion of these topics at home with a trusted adult.  There are some great books available that can support these conversations.  Here is a link to some:  https://michellemitchell.org/

Mother’s Day Stall – Thank You P&F

A big thank you to our Parents and Friends team for organising and running the Mother’s Day Stall. These events take a great deal of time and organisation, and we are very grateful for the effort that goes into creating such special opportunities for our students.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

Thank you to all families and special guests who attended our Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea on Thursday afternoon this week. It was a lovely opportunity to connect as a community, and it was wonderful to see so many families enjoying time together at school.
