Acting Principal's Report

Class of 2024

After farewelling the Class of 2024 in our previous newsletter, we continued our celebrations on 18 October with a Farewell Breakfast and a whole-school assembly. Students enjoyed a memories video, signed uniforms and received their yearbooks. As is now tradition, our Year 7 students formed a guard of honour as the Year 12s exited the assembly for the last time – a symbolic moment that captures the essence of our school community. A huge thank you to the Yearbook Committee for their dedication in creating a beautiful keepsake for our Year 12 students and families.

It was wonderful to be featured in The Age as a leading example of how to celebrate the final weeks of secondary school education. A huge congratulations to our students for the exemplary way they conducted themselves during their final week of school—this reflects the strong values we instil as a community. Thank you to all the parents and staff for your support in fostering such a positive environment.

The Graduation Dinner at the MCG on 23 October was a fitting final celebration. Thank you to Sarah Keating and the team for the outstanding organisation of this event. Congratulations to Mia W, Lachie B, Sophie P, Lua C, Aeysha G and Angus D, each of whom received a $2,500 university scholarship, awarded by a generous local community member, Bridget Hsu-Hage. These scholarships will support them as they begin their next steps.

We wish our Year 12 students the best of luck in their remaining exams and extend these wishes to our Year 11 students enrolled in Unit 3/4 subjects. Thank you to Hanna Drakos for her work in ensuring that exams run smoothly.

State Sporting Achievements

Several students have achieved notable successes at the state level, highlighting their talent and dedication. For details, please refer to the Our Latest Facebook/Instagram Posts page, where you will find updates on State Athletics, Ada S's performance at the Victorian All Schools Track & Field Championships and our Year 8 Hockey team victory. Congratulations to all our athletes on these outstanding achievements!

Year 7 2025 Information Evening

We held our Year 7 2025 Information Evening on 17 October. Our current students did a wonderful job sharing their experiences and our performers were amazing. Special thanks to our wonderful Parents’ Association for organising cupcakes for the night and to Deb Kirk for facilitating. We are looking forward to seeing our 2025 Year 7 students again on Orientation Day (10 December).

BSC Ladies’ Lunch

Sincere thanks to Vivienne Woollett, Shilpa Prajapati and their team for organising the Ladies’ Lunch on Saturday 19 October. Ninety-three tickets were sold. Special thanks to Zoe Daniel MP and local businesses for their generous contributions to the event. Please see the Support Those Who Support Us page of this newsletter and support them where you can.

Year 7 Cultural Day

On 24 October, our Year 7s immersed themselves in Cultural Day, exploring French, Japanese, and other global traditions. The day featured First Nations sessions, a French circus, Japanese Taiko drumming and traditional ink painting, with crepes provided by Crepes for Change supporting youth homelessness. Many thanks to Maiko Yamane, Stephanie Grant and Phoebe Wardlaw for bringing this engaging day to life for our students.

World Teachers' Day

On Friday, 25 October, we celebrated World Teachers’ Day, recognising our dedicated teachers who work tirelessly to support our students. Thank you to our wonderful Parents’ Association for delivering plants and to those who shared cakes and messages of appreciation. Our teachers’ commitment to creating a positive learning environment is invaluable.

Term 4 Student-free Day

A reminder that Friday 6 December is a Professional Practice Day. Students are not required at school on this day. There are no scheduled classes or supervision.
