Principal's Message

Well what a couple of weeks at ENPS!

There has been so much going on in and around our classrooms. The Foundation students are ready to start their full weeks at school from next week, the Year Fives had a wonderful Leadership Conference today, JSC and Green Team speeches have been happening all over and we had a wonderful celebration of the end of the Lunar New Year at our assembly this afternoon. (Check out the photos from our earlier Lunar New Year assembly celebrations on the Mandarin Page!)

We have also had a lot happening around the grounds at ENPS. Our upper basketball court re-opened after the resurfacing was complete, and what an amazing transformation that has been! Our student toilets have also been taking shape. Make sure you check out the special update from some of our Year Five student leaders later in the newsletter!

Staffing

In staffing news, we have now finalised the additional Year Six classroom teacher to work alongside Melissa Paola, our Mathematics Learning Specialist. This week we welcomed Joanne Nolan to the Year Six teaching team and 6MP. Joanne is a known face to us at ENPS, being one of our favoured CRTs over the past year. Joanne will work in 6MP on Monday and Tuesdays while Melissa works across the school to further develop our teaching of mathematics, with Melissa Paola teaching 6MP from Wednesday to Friday.

We also have welcomed another new member to our Education Support Team. Laura Serratore has joined us this week.

Welcome Joanne and Laura.

Swimming Carnival

Last week our Year Four to Six students participated in our swimming carnival. It was a great day and congratulations to Baan House as the 2024 Swimming Champions! We now have thirty students competing in the District Swimming Carnival next Wednesday at Keilor Park Leisure Centre. We wish them all luck and are super proud of their efforts as representatives of our school.

Year Level Information Flyers

This week, you may have seen that year level teams have started sending home their Unit of Inquiry flyers. Our teaching teams put a huge amount of work into these flyers to provide parents and carers with an insight into the learning and teaching happening in classrooms for the upcoming unit.

This year, our flyers for the first Unit of Inquiry will also have information for parents and carers, about the teaching team as well as an important link to provide everything your child’s teacher needs to know from you. We really hope parents/carers will use the link to connect with their child’s teacher as a starting point for further communication and correspondence.

Communication with Families

Clear and transparent communication with families is paramount for us at ENPS and is seen as a shared responsibility. For this purpose we request that families make sure they are checking our Compass updates regularly, as our primary platform for all communication.

School Council

We had a wonderful School Council meeting this week. You would have seen that we have sent out a ‘call for nominations’ to be a part of School Council for 2024. Check out the School Council page for more information. Make sure you come along to the Community Picnic this afternoon and meet our School Councillors!

Start of School Community Picnic

I am looking forward to seeing everyone this afternoon at our Start of School Community Picnic. Our ENPS School Council host this event and everyone is welcome. Bring a picnic dinner, a picnic blanket, chairs and enjoy an afternoon chatting to other parents and staff, while the kids play together. There is no cost involved and you can stay for as long or little amount of time as you like!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you all next week.
