School Leaders & Communication Leaders
House Captains
Recently, we had our Colour Fun Run on Friday the 20th of March, and it was lots of fun! Many teachers even got slimed, including Mrs JT, Trudy, Ms McManus, Mrs Dahlstrom, Mr O, Mrs Duguid and Ms Jones. It was impossible to leave in a white T-shirt without it turning into a rainbow!
Sports equipment has also been reintroduced, with a new system that is fair and easy to follow. If you forget to return your borrowed equipment, you won’t be able to borrow any the following week. This helps make sure everyone gets a chance to use the equipment, as the school invests a lot of money into it.
Auslan Leaders
We have recently welcomed a CRT, Miss Esler, who has been a wonderful and supportive Auslan teacher while Miss Thomas is away for a few weeks.
Across the school, students have been busy with their learning. The Year 5/6 and 3/4 students are creating presentations based on invitations, such as party or sleepover invites. The Year 1/2 students are learning about weather, while the Prep students are exploring colours, numbers, and the alphabet.
Auslan Club continues to be a fun and engaging opportunity for students in Years 3 to 6. It runs every Tuesday during the first half of lunch and is led by Miss Esler, Rooney, and Lily. Students enjoy playing games, learning new signs, and completing Auslan activities that they may not have finished during class time.
Art Leaders
During Leadership Time weekly on Thursday afternoons, we help Mrs Jones prepare artwork for the art show which will be held at the Community Night in November. We also assist Mrs Jones by returning artwork to students that is not needed for the art show.
When we are in the art room, we also help with cleaning. Ava wipes the tables, while Elena refills the water and cleans the paint brushes. On Harmony Day, we helped Mrs Jones by putting up the paper people above the office window and using Blu Tack to stick them to the wall.
Environmental Leaders
This term, we have been working on improving how we care for our planet at school. We have been encouraging students to reduce the amount of rubbish they bring, especially wrappers, and we are starting to see some positive changes.
In the Patch for Fascination Friday, students have been doing a fantastic job watering plants, weeding, and planting bee-friendly flowers to help keep our environment healthy and clean.
It has been especially exciting to see bees visiting and pollinating the flower bushes near 5/6H and 1/2D. This shows that our efforts are making a difference and helping support local wildlife. 🐝🌸
