Storytime

On Monday, we conducted our first Storytime for 2024. Preschool children were joined by Mrs DeCarlo and our Year Six library team members: Sarahjane, April, Indi, Layan, Cooper, Bohdi and Tristan. They read books, sang a song and engaged in a craft activity about the theme 'Summer' Our next Storytime session, themed 'Colours,' is scheduled for Monday, March 18th.

Aussie of the Month Assembly

Our first Aussie of the Month Assembly (AOM) is on Monday, February 26, and is led by the Student Representative Council (SRC). During the upcoming assembly, we'll award badges to students chosen by peers and teachers for new SRC and Active Travel roles. We've also expanded the Waste Warrior leadership group to include one student from each 3/4 class.

A highlight of the AOM assembly is the Aussie of the Month Award, recognising a student who embodies school values and citizenship, contributing to both their class and the wider school community.

School Council Parent Positions

We're inviting parents to nominate themselves for the Park Orchards Primary School Council for the 2024-2026 term. This year, we have four positions in the Parent Category. The term is two years, and current council members can nominate for another two-year term. If more than four parents apply, we'll hold an election. Please note that Department of Education employees cannot serve on the School Council at their workplace or their child's school.

Nominations are open today at 4 pm and close at 9 am on Friday, March 1. Our School Council typically meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 7.00 pm. Councillors are also expected to participate in a Sub Committee, focusing on either Education or Facilities/Master Plan. Current councillors and I are available to discuss the requirements with interested parents.

Parents' Association

It's wonderful to see Parents' Association community events starting strong this year. We had an excellent turnout of parents who helped cook pancakes for our students and staff this past Tuesday – a huge thank you to Ms Berardini for organising and coordinating the event.

This Friday, February 23rd, from 5-7pm, we're hosting a Welcome Back Evening. Families are encouraged to join us and either bring a picnic or enjoy food from the food trucks.

Additionally, on Monday, February 26th, we'll have a cupcake and pre-loved uniform stall open after school on the day of the Aussie of the Month Assembly.
