A big warm welcome to Term 3!!

We have settled into the new term well and hope the break provided some great family time and a nice chance for students to recharge, ready for a great second semester. The break provided opportunity for us to undertake a few projects while the school was empty. A highlight was our ability to put the finishing touches on our new Wellbeing Room.

Relocating our Wellbeing Room to Block C has allowed us to create a lovely, safe and inviting sanctuary in the heart of our school. It has become a new home to our Student Wellbeing Officer- Josh Horan and our Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader- Katela Chrisanthopoulos. The Wellbeing Room is a space perfect for providing the social and emotional support our students may need from time to time and operate empowering programs such as Peaceful Kids.

Our students think it's pretty special too...

The Wellbeing Room is very calming with a lovely teacher called Mrs C. Mr Josh is also supportive. They make us feel welcome and provide sensory needs and a space to calm down. The calming mat in a nice space to feel safe and relax and the fidgets help calm us down in stressful situations. I think I love the calming nature of the room the most.

-Rupert, Year 6 Wellbeing Captain

The Wellbeing Room is really relaxing. There's some fidgets and jenga blocks with questions to help us think about things like friends and family. It’s a really calming space. The mat with pillows is soft and a great place to rest and calm down. I feel really calm and safe in the new wellbeing room.

-Nicholas, Year 6

There’s lots of things to choose from to help us feel calm. There's lots of different spaces too. Of course Miss C helps us to feel calm. Apart from maybe getting a hamster, I wouldn’t change a thing!

-Grace, Year 4

It’s amazing! I love when we get to lie down on the mat and do some meditations.

-Neive, Year 1

It looks beautiful. It makes me feel calm when I’m sad or upset or even when I feel myself. I do love holding the squishies. I love being able to draw and use my imagination to be calm and share my feelings.

-Kai, Year 1

If you ever have any questions or concerns about your child's mental health and wellbeing, please don't hesitate to begin a conversation with their classroom teacher.

A lot to look forward to...

Term that has lots of wonderful experiences planned for the children. Here's just some of the great things we're looking forward to...

Kids First Aid Course

After it was hugely popular last year, our wonderful Community Engagement Committee have again organised the opportunity for our students to undertake the Kids' First Aid Course with Cool Kids First Aid here at school. We thank CEC for this great opportunity and hope you were able to secure a spot for your child to attend this popular event.

Year 6 Public Speaking Competition

After a successful maiden running of the Year 6 Public Speaking Competition in collaboration with Eltham East Primary School last year, it looks like 2026 will be even bigger and better, with the invitation extended to other schools in the Banyule Nillumbik Schools Network. This will be a great way to round out the term in Week 10.

There's lots more happening through out the term, so keep your eyes on the usual communication channels closer to all of these events for more information.

We look forward to seeing you around,

-Natalie, Claire and Sam.
