Semester 1 Reports – Available Monday June 30
Semester 1 student reports will be available to parents via Compass from next Monday June 30.
As previously mentioned, reports will look different this semester. There will be a single report that combines academic progress with assessment of students' personal and social capabilities. It is important that parents/carers are aware of their child's personal and social capabilities in the school environment. These skills are vital for students to manage themselves, build positive relationships, and respond to challenges with confidence and resilience.
Teachers have assessed students against the new Victorian Curriculum Achievement Standards. This semester, reports will show a progression point only, with full progress shown at the end of the year. The mathematics mark will be a single combined mark across the number, algebra, measurement, space and statisitics.
Student Led Conferences – Week 11
Student led conferences will be held on:
Bookings can be made via Compass. Parents can also book a 10-minute meeting with specialist teachers on Thursday.
PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE NO LUNCH ORDERS ON THURSDAY AND THAT STUDENTS FINISH SCHOOL AT 1:00 pm. Parents who require care of their children on that day are able to access TheirCare.
Each conference runs for 15 minutes. For the first 10 minutes, students will lead the discussion using their learning journal to share their progress and reflections. The final 5 minutes are for parents to speak with the teacher about the report or any other matters.
If more time is needed for discussion, a followup meeting can be arranged in Term 3.
Student led conferences are an important opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning, reflect on their achievements, and set goals for the future.
On Monday we had our Aussie of the Month Assembly which was facilitated by Grace S (5/6M) and Zachary V (5M). It was a fabulous assembly and our guest speaker was Mrs Allegretto who is a Foundation teacher at POPS but also a player and unmpire for Bocce Australia.
Congratulations, Mia A (4P), on receiving a well-deserved Aussie of the Month Award! Mia is a thoughtful and caring class member who consistently embodies the POPS values of Excellence, Respect, Kindness, and Integrity. She arrives at school each day with a smile, eager to learn and committed to giving her best in all she does. Mia promotes inclusivity and demonstrates fairness and empathy towards others. Her consistent efforts towards achieving personal goals are matched by her enthusiasm and positive outlook. Mia’s positive nature and strong character are admired by those around her and add so much to the POPS community.
Last Tuesday night, we held our June School Council meeting. Reports were tabled from the Principal, Parents' Association, Treasurer, and the Facilities and Education Subcommittees. We also took the opportunity to thank Mrs Walsh for her valuable contribution to the school and School Council. For more details, visit the School Council page.
We are thrilled to announce that Mrs Elissa Daniel has been successful in her application for the Business Manager position!
Please join me in congratulating her on this exciting appointment. With her deep knowledge of our school and strong relationships with students, staff, and families, we know she will do an outstanding job in this role.
Flynn L (6D) Mountain Biking Success: Congratulations to Flynn, who competed in the Victorian Schools Mountain Bike Series last Sunday at Lysterfield. He rode brilliantly and secured a podium finish, taking out 3rd place!
These MTB competitions are conducted throughout the year, here is the link for anyone who may be interested competing.
Congratulations Kayla (6I/G): Kayla performed at the National Theatre last Friday night and will take the stage again this Saturday. Well done Kayla.
