From Our Principals

Welcome back to Term 4! We hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and is feeling refreshed and ready for what promises to be a busy and exciting final term. There is so much to look forward to, including our Colour Run, Christmas Gathering and Art Show, House Sports, Grade 6 Graduation and Big Day Out.

We are also very excited to welcome our 2027 Foundation students and families as they begin their transition to school.

We would like to congratulate Kellie Symons, who will be stepping up as Acting Principal one day a week during Term 4. This is a fantastic opportunity for Kellie to further develop her leadership experience, and we are looking forward to working together as we begin our planning and preparations for 2027.

With so many wonderful events and celebrations ahead, we are looking forward to a fantastic Term 4 together.

Term 4 – No Hat No Play

With the warmer weather returning, it’s time to remember our SunSmart practices at Scoresby Primary School.

During Term 4, students are required to wear their school hat when outside, including during recess, lunchtime, PE and other outdoor activities.

Term 4 is a “No Hat, No Play” term. Students who do not have their hat will need to remain in the designated shaded area during break times.

Please take a moment to check that your child has their named school hat at school and ready to wear each day.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe in the sun while still enjoying plenty of outdoor play!

Planning for 2027

We are beginning to think about our 2027 classes, which might sound early but we take time and effort to make sure these are as balanced as can be in many different ways.

We do accept parent requests - as long as they are on educational grounds, we don’t accept requests for teachers. These requests are overseen by the principal team rather than classroom teachers, as this allows us to ensure all requests are received and treated fairly and equitably.

Please forward all requests to Nic Rheumer nicole.rheumer@education.vic.gov.au .

Email or written requests are accepted with a cut-off date for requests being Friday 29th of October 2026.

This year our staff will take the following into account when forming classes:

  • Student’s learning needs
  • Current Teacher recommendations
  • Class balance (number of boys and girls, similar cross section of achievement levels etc.)
  • Parent requests (if able to be fulfilled)
  • Student’s sociogram requests ‘Who I work well with?’

Parents will be informed of their child’s class and teacher when the end of year reports come home.

School fees

It’s the time of the year when we sit down and review our school budgets and organise books and equipment for the following year. The financial pressure most people are facing at the moment, is certainly very real, and it does apply to schools and education as well.

Currently we are sitting at only 46% of SPS families who have paid their annual school fees for the 2026 school year.  We have provided all students with equipment (writing books, maths books, pencils, glue sticks, paper and photocopying) throughout the year, regardless of school fee payment status as per DE policies, and also because we certainly don’t want any child being left out. We are making up the shortfall of fees, from our own funds.

We have already placed orders for next year’s classroom supplies and personal items so they can be ready for the beginning of 2027. We would greatly appreciate any contribution towards outstanding 2026 school fees. At this stage of the year, every little bit helps.

Please see Tina if you wish to discuss any issues regarding school fees.

Uniform Reminder

As we settle back into the term, we would like to share a friendly reminder about our school uniform and presentation expectations.

Our uniform is an important part of creating a sense of belonging and pride at Scoresby Primary School, and we really appreciate families supporting us in helping students come to school ready for their day.

A few gentle reminders:

  • Hair should be neat and tidy and remain a natural hair colour. Please save coloured hairspray and bright hair colours for weekends and holidays.
  • Nails and makeup should be natural and suitable for school. Please also keep nails at a length that allows students to participate safely in all activities.
  • Jewellery should be kept simple and in line with our school policy.
  • Long hair should be tied back when required for safety.

We know that children love expressing themselves, and there are lots of opportunities to do this outside of school and on our special dress-up days.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing support in helping our students look smart, feel part of our school community and be ready to learn.

A Friendly Reminder: Smoke-Free School

A gentle reminder to our school community that smoking and vaping are not permitted on or near our school grounds.

We kindly ask families and visitors to be mindful when arriving at and leaving school, particularly around our gates and entrances. This helps us maintain a healthy, safe and welcoming environment for all of our students and families.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Please Help Us Keep Our Car Park Safe

The safety of our students is always our priority. We have noticed some students walking through the staff car park when leaving school.

As vehicles may be moving or reversing at this busy time, this presents a significant safety risk. We ask families to please remind children that the staff car park is for staff access only and is not a pedestrian exit.

Students should always leave the school grounds using the designated pathways and gates.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us keep our students safe.

Mini Market Day – Friday 20th November

Our Mini Market Day will be held on Friday 20th November.

Students are busy creating items to sell and planning lots of fun games and activities. Students will have the chance to visit the market during the afternoon, with families and friends invited to join us from 2.45pm to 3.30pm.

We’re looking forward to a fun afternoon together. More details coming soon!
