Mordialloc College
Principal Update
Thursday 22 October 2026

Dear Families, Students and Community Members,
As our $12.6 million ArtsTech build excitedly now looks like a real-life wonderful learning building, and the spring weather sees us outside and making the most of our creative spaces, we have also been busy getting Year 12 ready for their final weeks in school, celebrating our Mordialloc College artists, being amazed at the work of our Year 12 VCE-VM students, and getting ready for our 2027 timetable to begin in HeadStart.
Farewell to the Class of 2026
Year 12 Graduation and Leaver’s Assembly.
In Week 3, Year 12 celebrated their Graduation and Leaver’s Assembly, saying goodbye to a great cohort of students is always a mix of emotions..
It was wonderful to be able to congratulate those Year 12 students who worked to the best of their ability in either the VCE University Pathway or VCE Vocational Major pathway, and who are now preparing for the next step in their journey.
An important component of Year 12 is developing the skills required to navigate the specific challenges that arise in the final year of school, it requires resilience, and the courage to ask for help when it is needed. This is where our amazing staff have always been available to support our students, and we are so proud to say that no matter what challenges have been presented to them, Year 12 2026 have repeatedly demonstrated that when they put their mind to it, they can achieve amazing things.
A big thank you to the Senior School team for giving our Year 12s the beautiful send off that they all deserved.
I really must commend all of the Year 12 students over these final weeks: they have been mature, they have spent time making great memories with their friends, peers, and teachers, and they have shown themselves to be a wonderful group of young adults. Year 12, we are so proud of you!
On behalf of the whole Mordialloc College Community, I would like to wish every success to our Year 12 students, it has been a pleasure to have been a part of your success story.
Year 12, my challenge to you all: make this world a better place, I know that you can do it.
Year 12 VCE VM - A night of big wins!!
Mordialloc College is incredibly proud of our students who were recognised at the BGKLLEN Applied Learning Awards, held at St Leonard’s College.
This special event celebrated outstanding students from across Bayside, Glen Eira and Kingston who have excelled in applied learning pathways through the VCE VM, VET and Victorian Pathways Certificate programs.
The evening began with delicious canapés and an air of excitement before keynote speaker Alana Kilmartin, author of Unserious Careers, delivered a presentation centred on the powerful belief that a single conversation, idea or question, shared at the right age, can alter the trajectory of an entire life. Her message was a compelling reminder of the importance of giving young people the confidence and permission to dream big and be ambitious about their futures.
Our students were recognised in their respective categories, with Harry Robinson going on to be named overall winner VCE VM (Core Subjects) Student of the Year. This remarkable achievement by our nominees reflects their consistent hard work, perseverance and commitment to completing their senior studies at an exceptionally high standard.
Mordialloc College was proudly represented by:
VCE VM (Core Subjects) Award - Harry R (Winner)
Future Vocational Award - Liam M
Future Educational Award - Xander R
VET Student of the Year - Maadi R
Work Based Learning Student of the Year - Stephanie G
Alongside this, Liam M has also received the SBAT of the Year Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology award, reflecting his ambition, passion and work ethic from his workplace, TAFE and Mordialloc College.
A huge congratulations to our Vocational Major Students. We are so proud of you!

Art Show 2026
On 13th October, our community joined us in celebrating the Arts as a part of our yearly Mordialloc College Art Show. Together we celebrated the amazing talents of our students in Visual Communication, Art, Media, Product Design and Music.
This event showcased what we do best: provide a myriad of opportunities to support and celebrate the hard work of our students. The Art Show would not have been as successful as it was without the hard work of the ArtsTech team who worked hard to showcase the space to honour our students’ hard work.

Japan Trip 2026
A massive thank you to our Language Other Then English (LOTE) staff Eleni Capp, Cynthia Leung & Bournik Kabengele who in the last week of Term 3 and into the Term 3 holiday, accompanied a group of our Japanese students on a once in a lifetime trip to Japan. Trips like this are simply not possible without a huge amount of planning, time and effort from the staff who are involved, and we would like to say a huge Arigato gozaimasu to them all for going above and beyond for the students.
My conversations with the students were (as always!!) focused around food and sight-seeing but for more, please see the below article and photographs.
During the last week of Term 3 and the first week of the holidays, Ms Capp, Ms Leung and Mr Kabengele accompanied 19 of our students from Years 8 to 11 on an unforgettable tour of Japan, exploring Tokyo, Chiba, Nagano, Kanazawa and Kyoto. Highlights included the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing and Shibuya Sky, the famous Kaminarimon Gate and Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, the electric town of Akihabara, Meiji Shrine in Harajuku, TeamLab Planets, Tokyo DisneySea, Tokyo Skytree and the Miraikan Science Museum, as well as frequent visits to the many convenience stores found all over Japan.
Students also experienced the unique sight of snow monkeys at Jigokudani, admired the traditional houses of Kanazawa, and explored Kyoto’s beautiful temples, shrines and bamboo forest. A particularly special part of the trip was visiting our sister school’s cultural festival, followed by a two-night homestay , providing a wonderful opportunity to experience Japanese school life and culture firsthand. It was an incredible journey filled with new experiences, amazing food, cultural discoveries and lasting memories. Judging by the photos, our students had a fantastic time, and it is certainly an experience they will never forget!

Alongside the great memories of travelling with staff and friends, our students also reflected on their time at our sister school, Koei Veritas Junior & Senior High School, and brought back a commemorative plaque celebrating our partnership with them. A huge thank you to Koei Veritas for making our Mordialloc College community feel so welcome.

Thank you for your continued support of Mordialloc College; please remember that I can always be contacted via the college email address mordialloc.co@education.vic.gov.au .
