SPACE RACE WINNER

Out of over 1000 students at East campus Sorya Kiran (Year 9) was the only student to successfully complete our Kerbal Space Program "Space Race" challenge. He stands alone as the only student to successfully land a craft on both the Mün and Duna!

This incredible feat required rigour, planning and application of real-world orbital mechanics principles. Achieving dual landings on Kerbal's moon and Mars equivalent demanded precise calculations and a deep understanding of physics principles.

Well deserved Sorya!

STUDENTS LEAD THE FIGHT AGAINST VAPING

Year 11 student Anthe Limogiannis is featured in the July edition of Glen Eira News for her involvement in the Fresh Take Initiative, a youth-led campaign tackling vaping. As part of this council-run program, students attended a creative workshop in May to plan, design, and launch an anti-vaping campaign with support from professional designers.

Anthe shares her reflection on the experience in the article.

VM FOOD DRIVE

The Year 11 VCE-VM group has been given the opportunity to make a large supply of soup with The Soup Angel, a charity-based organisation that helps the vulnerable or those facing food insecurity in The Glen Eira area.

The Soup Angel (Nicole and team) is a charity that was created in March of 2020 during the first COVID lockdown in Melbourne to provide home cooked meals that are healthy and full of nutrients. The soups were given to the elderly and others in need in the streets surrounding Nicole’s Home, when vulnerable people couldn’t go to the Supermarket.

During the second lockdown in Melbourne, it was advertised on a few kindness social media pages which grew awareness and Nicole’s community could provide to more people in need.

To achieve this opportunity, we need donations from all teachers and students from the list of ingredients below by Monday 4 August. Can you please drop off one or two items at the Mckinnon Road Campus to the labelled boxes in The MERC building in the middle of the school.
