Prep News

The Preps have enjoyed learning about "their community" in Inquiry (Discovery time). We finished the term with a visit to the CFA fire station and also had a visit from Lucy, one of the nurses from the bush nursing centre.
In Maths we have been learning about how to collect information and record the data in response to a question. We found out that Velcro and laces was the most popular shoe, The colour purple is the most popular colour and Geelong cats is the most popular footy team. We also tally marked & graphed a big handful of M&M's and discovered we all collected a different result before we gobbled them all up.
We have now completed the 42 Jolly phonics sounds and the Preps are now decoding words using the sounds they know. I am so proud of how far they have come in such a short time. Next term, we will be starting guided reading groups and all the strategies we need to help decode words.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing holiday!! See you next
