Message from our Principal
Mr Mark Pollard
Dear Silverton families,
On behalf of our staff, I’d like to say a big welcome back for the beginning of our 2026 school year. I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday period. As always, we are very excited to welcome a new cohort of Foundation students to Silverton Primary School. I look forward to getting to know the children and their families as well as any other new additions to Silverton Primary school this year.

Thank you to all of our staff for the work they have already done to prepare for a successful start to the school year. I’d also like to congratulate the students for the way in which they have returned to school today. We are off to a great start and it’s lovely to have everyone back.
We have had some building works done over the break installing new doors and windows to our four main learning centres. We are also now preparing to undergo another roofing project where we will be having new roofs and gutters installed on LC4, Activities Room, LC5 and the Admin Building. LC4 will be the first building worked on, and construction is set to start mid Feb. Our year 5/6 staff and students will be working in LC5 and the front portable for the first part of the year until they can return to LC4. I will keep you updated on this project as it progresses.
As we start the year, I’d like to make you all aware of some changes to the school gates. We will be closing all gates by 9:30am including the large automatic gate to the staff carpark on Silverton drive. The main reason for this is to ensure safety for our students, in particular our new Foundation students as they become familiar with Silverton’s spaces, as well as reducing traffic moving in and out of the carpark during the school day. If you require access to the disabled carpark, please can you call the office on 9795 5033 and we will have the gate opened for you. With regards to the big sliding gate on Silverton drive, it will not be locked. We ask that anyone coming in during the day to please slide it open to come in and close it behind you when you enter and exit the school. We will open the gate up properly at 3:00pm each day.
Our first whole school assembly will be held in the gym on Monday 2nd Feb at 8:50am. Parents/Carers are always welcome at our assemblies. A reminder that students are required to line up outside their learning centres and wait for their teachers to walk them to assembly. We do expect all students to be at school on time. Parents/Carers, can you please ensure that your child is at school on time for assembly each Monday.
We will be holding our Meet n Greet BBQ evening on Thursday 5th Feb from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. The evening will include a 30 minute time slot for each Learning Centre to do a presentation to the students and parents. It was a great night last year and we would love everyone to attend our first Silverton function for the 2026 year. The BBQ is free however there is a limit of one sausage and drink per person to ensure that we can adequately cater for the event.
Please RSVP via the link below to register your attendance.
Silverton PS is a Rubbish Free school. I’m asking that all families continue to support this initiative by ensuring that lunch boxes are free from plastic wrappers. Some simple ideas are to take snacks out of their plastic packets and put them as well as sandwiches into small plastic containers in your child’s lunch box.
As we are a SunSmart school, all students are required to have a board brimmed school hat to wear at all times when they are outside during Term One. If you need assistance getting a hat for your child, please let the admin team know.
To ensure safety of all of our community members, please ensure that everyone crosses the roads at the designated school crossings. Please do not perform U-turns outside the school gates.
Once again, I would just like to welcome everyone back to Silverton and thank you for your ongoing support. We are looking forward to a great year!
Thank you,
Mark Pollard – Principal
