Mr Hyatt
Hello from Lake Keepit
I have to admit I am still feeling lethargic after the Canberra Excursion and here I am at Lake Keepit with Miss Cattelini and the Year 3-4 students.
So far it has been an action-packed afternoon as soon as the students arrived and had their sleeping arrangements sorted, it was time to participate for all of us to get changed into our old clothes and slosh through the mud on the commando course. All of the students had a great time but I have to admit it is not my cup of tea as I am a bit of a clean freak!
The students are enjoying the pool before we have dinner and then participate in the nighttime activities.
Tomorrow morning we are testing our archery skills before getting on the bus to return to Walcha. I have a funny feeling I am not going to get a lot of sleep tonight! (I will include photos in the next edition of the newsletter).
Next Friday, November 29th, I will be accompanying the Year 1-2 students on their excursion to Thalgarrah. I have reviewed the itinerary, and it appears to be a day filled with engaging activities. Details regarding this trip were shared last week. Additionally, the following Friday, the Kindergarten class will also visit Thalgarrah for a teddy bear's picnic. I must confess that I have never participated in a teddy bear's picnic before, but unfortunately, I will be unable to attend due to the Principal's Conference scheduled for the same day. Nevertheless, I am confident that Ms Wilson and the Kindergarten students will enjoy themselves immensely.
Anyway, I better get back to my duties here at Lake Keepit. Take care and I hope to catch up with everyone soon.
Staffing for 2025
Recently an announcement was made to our transition families that Ms Wilson (4 days) and Mrs Hoy (1 day) will be teaching Kindergarten next year. I have also been recently contacted by several families regarding what will be the classroom arrangements for the next school year. I have nearly finalised everything and I do hope I can officially announce all classroom arrangements this time next week. I can announce now that we will be keeping to the same class format with four operating classes (Kindergarten, Years 1-2, Years 3-4, and Years 5-6), and at the moment these classes will be in the same classrooms as this year.
Leadership Structure for Year 6 Students
The positions are as follows:
- School Captains: 2 students
- Sports Captains: 2 students
This year there will be a change in the school leadership protocols. In keeping with the times, the students will vote on a candidates ability, character and commitment to the roles rather than their gender. This approach ensures that all students have an equal chance to be considered, recognised and valued for their strengths.
Thank you for your support in fostering a respectful and inclusive environment where all students can thrive as leaders.
2025 School Leadership Speeches and Election Day
Several of our Year 5 students have commenced the preparation and practice of their speeches in anticipation of the 2025 School Leadership Speeches and Election Day, scheduled this upcoming, Wednesday, 27th November.
I would like to thank all of our Year 5 students who have nominated themselves to fill these positions if elected. I know all of you would do a fantastic job!
Year 5 speeches will commence at 9.30am in the library and parents are invited to join us. After the speeches, all students and staff members will then cast their votes. Our 2025 School Leaders will be officially announced at our End of Year Presentation Night.

End of Year Presentation Night - Wednesday 11th December @ WCS
This year we will be having our Presentation Night at the Walcha Multipurpose Centre on the 11th December commencing at 5.30pm. The first part of the night will take approximately an hour, where recognition will be given broadcasting the large number of highlights that we have had over this academic year as well as a number of performances. The second part of the night will be a barbecue, where all members of our school community are invited to join us. More information concerning this event will be released soon.
THE LAST DAY FOR RETURNING LIBRARY BOOKS IS FRIDAY 6TH DECEMBER!
As we approach the end of the year, it is essential to begin the process of inventorying all the books in the library. This undertaking will be substantial, and to guarantee its completion prior to the conclusion of the school year, all books must be returned by Friday, December 6th. We extend our gratitude to all students and their parents who have already returned their library books, as this will greatly facilitate our upcoming stocktaking efforts.

TOYS
Staff has noticed an increase in toys being brought to school from home of late. We have a 'no toys from home agreement' with the students so that everyone gets an equal opportunity to play with the school equipment. Leaving toys at home will also avoid breakages, loss and any sharing issues. Thank you for your support.
