Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 3, Week 8

Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,

Father's Day Breakfast & Stall

It was great to see so many fathers/grandfathers/male caregivers come to our Father's Day Breakfast last Friday.  Also, on behalf of the P&C we thank everyone who purchased Father's Day gifts from the stall. We hope you all had a great Father's Day celebrating the wonderful men in your lives and enjoyed your gifts.

New England Northwest Regional Athletics Carnival

Well done to Piper and Telmie who competed in the New England Northwest Athletics Carnival on behalf of the PSSA Quirindi Zone last Friday, 4th September.  Both girls put in a spectacular effort, and we congratulate you on your performance.

We will be holding a meeting with all prospective Kindergarten 2027 enrolments at Werris Creek Preschool, 14 Coronation Street, Werris Creek at 3:15pm on Tuesday, 15th September.  This is a great opportunity to gain knowledge and receive enrolment forms and information on our school and Kindergarten program and meet our Kinder Teacher for 2027.  If you know of anyone who is wanting to enrol their child in 2027 please come along to the meeting or they can contact our school for more details.

We are learning to:

  • Consistently interact safely with others at all times

We know we are successful when we:

  • Hands and feet off

  • Kind words/think before you speak

  • Respect others personal space

  • Use equipment safely

Future Leaders of Werris Creek Public School

Each morning before we start our day we hold an assembly to discuss what is happening for the day, behaviour focus for the week and acknowledge our turn up and home reader awards.  We start our assembly with an acknowledgement to country.  We are now encouraging some of our younger students to step up and lead our school.  This week we have Alice & Indy leading with the Acknowledgement to Country.  Well done to Alice & Indy for aspiring to be future leaders of Werris Creek Public School.

Home Reading

Home reading is encouraged at Werris Creek Public School.  Just 10 minutes per night can make a difference.  To encourage our students to read at home, we offer some great incentives.  See the image below with our incentive program. If you would like some tips on encouraging your child to read, please see their classroom teacher.

Attendance Matters

Congratulations to the 15 students who are part of our 100% Club.  These students have attended school 100% of the time in Term 3.
